Meet Honey Pierre of Inkedbyhoney in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Honey Pierre.

Honey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am from Cleveland, OH originally and moved to Atlanta a year ago with the dream of becoming a better artist, tattoo apprentice, and also helping people. I started painting almost two years ago with no intention of what it’s becoming now. I was never enrolled in any art programs at school, didn’t attend art colleges, or any of that. I had to learn everything about art by observing other artists. Now I’m doing every single goal I wrote before I came here and it’s all going amazingly well for me.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never a smooth road when you’re trying to build from nothing to something. I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of personal time, sacrifice time from my marriage and sacrifice my time with my family in order to get where I am today. With that being said that time sacrificed is surely paying off in many more ways.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Inkedbyhoney story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a painter, curator, muralist, piercer, instructor, and an advocate for the community. Not to forget I own my tray business. I curate vibes with Craft Trap every second Friday at Peters Street Station which showcases emerging artists and local entrepreneurs. It’s honestly a great platform and I highly suggest any emerging artist to check it out at least once. I do murals with Kirby and we can’t wait to show everyone which projects we are apart of soon. I also instruct paint and sips throughout the city of Atlanta/ Decatur area. I’m also an advocate for my community by doing art therapy at the juvenile detention center with the program Higher Art that is based out of Cleveland, OH. The program will be starting in mid-June. What sets me apart from everyone else is that I am consistent with artwork and know how to communicate well when it comes to business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck doesn’t really affect my life/business.
