Meet Dontez Love of Kreativity Palace Salon in Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dontez Love.

Dontez, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
God truly ordained this life of mine! Originally from Cleveland Oh I started at a very early age, 8 to be exact! I actually had my own Hairshow with my mom’s collector dolls and found myself in a lot of trouble. I got whooped but she was so intrigued at how I got the hairstyles to stay so she encouraged me to learn everything I needed to know about my craft. That was the beginning! So 27 years ago was the start of my path to today! All thru school I became known for my clean looks! Fast forward I eventually went to hair school in Late 2004 and graduated late 2005! Just being transparent it wasn’t always good as life happened and I got in some trouble which was eventually justified! In 2007 I was casted to be featured on the hit show Split Ends on Style Network which was my introduction to T.V. Life! In 2009 I relocated to Atlanta Ga and a few weeks later I was casted to do the competition show Split Ends The Big Cut Off! I thought that was my chance to take off but it was just a taste of what was to come. I struggled trying to figure out a game plan that would make me marketable and known. It seemed like no matter what I did I had it bad. Finally business started to pick up in 2011, I started working at a salon that allowed me access to meet influential people that would eventually become clients. Working with them positioned me for other opportunities like working on the shows Girl Get ya Mind Right and Love and Hip Hop Atlanta! In 2012 I opened my first salon Kreativity Palace Salon and Spa in Hapeville Ga. It was so amazing to be in my own space with Kreative control over my own ideas. Again God gave me a glimpse of what I could have, I closed down in 2013. Excited to start afresh I worked at 2 salons where I grew to add a title to my resume as an international hairstylist and instructor, all in a 2 year span before I found my 3 chair space which has been my home since December 2014. Kreativity Palace was back, now a part of the Michael Allen Salon it was time for takeoff. God was so amazing He gave me another chance to find myself and I started soaring straight up! It seemed liked the more I worked the more work came my way. I was so thankful and grateful because I had another opportunity just because God loved me. I continued building my brand that I started so long ago IamDontezLove! The meaning (Iam) was the name God told the children of Israel to tell their enemy sent them, so I keep Him in the forefront of my very existence! With my clientele finally stable and my life seeming to be in order I decided to go back to school to become a licensed cosmetology instructor. Attending CEI Hairschool’s was the best decision I could have ever made. I’ve had so many doors open because I listened to God and made the decision to advance my career! I’ve worked on From The Bottom Up and Star. Now as an educator so many doors have open I am teaching advanced classes and working on so many different projects! I’ve built my own website, designed my own business cards, directed my own branding campaigns (still and video), and so many other projects in the making like a new salon and eventually my own school! Being an Entrepreneur isn’t easy but it’s definitely worth it….I am definitely excited about this opportunity, I am Dontez Love!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being from another state it was hard to build at first, not having the support I wanted or needed. Working hard and not being very social I didn’t meet many people but all that changed for my good!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kreativity Palace Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
Kreativity Palace is a brand that stands for integrity! Established in 2011 we have always strived to give Quality service.

I am a Dual Licensed Master Cosmetologist and Master Educator that specializes in all phases of the industry (Haircare, Nailcare, Esthetics and Barbering).

I am known for my Cutting, Styling and for my Finished looks.

I am most proud that my brand still stands strong 6 years later!

What sets me apart from most Stylists is I care about what I put out, mediocrity is not accepted and Quality will always be provided at a good reasonable price.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck…. I believe hard work, dedication and faith in God will take you to the highest heights. Favor on the other hand has put me in places unimaginable and in my eyes not reachable!
