Meet Angela Edwards of The Row Barre in Brookhaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Edwards.

Angela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The Row Barre combines two fitness concepts together… Indoor Rowing and Barre Fitness!

Indoor Rowing is an amazing workout that most people do not know about. It works 86% of your muscles in a short workout. Not to mention it is much easier on the joints unlike running or treadmills. Indoor rowing is high cardio/low impact. We also use the rower machine in alternative ways to challenge the body even more.

I am also a big fan of barre fitness. Barre targets large muscles but it also targets those small accessory muscles that are hard to get to. Also Barre includes working on muscles that are on the back of the body (hamstrings, back muscles, glutes, etc…). Many fitness class tend to focus on the front of the body which leads to imbalances in the body. Barre is a great strength endurance class but lacks cardio so you cannot do it as a standalone fitness regime.

So I decided to put the 2 together into one workout in 55 minutes. We get our cardio needs met through indoor rowing and strengthening needs through barre fitness. The two really complement each other and no muscle group gets missed. Row Barre is also time efficient because we do strengthening and cardio in one session. People are busy and don’t have 2-3 hours per day to spend at a gym.

We do hybrid classes (half of class is rowing/other half is barre) but we also offer rowing only classes/barre only classes. We also hold Buti Yoga 1-2 a week as well.

Has it been a smooth road?
Things have been going well. The Atlanta market is still new to the indoor rowing concept so we have to do a lot of education on the benefits of rowing (which we totally don’t mind).

Barre fitness is tricky…LOL. You have to come to barre at least 6-8 classes to get the technique down. Barre focuses on small movements and many clients are used to doing large ROM. But barre will give the BEST results when it comes to strength, posture, flexibility, and a cute perky booty!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Row Barre – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Row Barre is the only studio inside 285 that offers classes centered around indoor rowing. Also we are the only studio in the country that combines barre and indoor rowing together into one class. It truly is a unique workout.

We are super proud that we have all types of women that come to our classes. All sizes, All Shapes, All Ages!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Atlanta is a great city. It is growing in leaps and bound. There a lot of fun things to do in Atlanta for fitness.

But with growth come traffic! Traffic can be annoying at times but that is when you turn up the radio and let it go
