Meet Logan Harrison of Layers by Lo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Harrison.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve had an overwhelming love for cooking and baking, but baking always came out on top. I loved putting my own creative spin on things and surprising people with my baked goods. I would do local bake sales, school events and bake for family holidays parties. I always knew no matter what I did in life, I would somehow end up back to baking; it’s my passion. As I grew older, my lifestyle switched to plant-based and I immediately took that as a challenge and I was on a mission. I wanted to get rid of all of the negative assumptions about the plant-based community, showing people that you don’t need animal products to have great desserts, all while providing great tasting baked goods, to back up my statements.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth and straight road for me. I’ve spent a countless number of hours in the kitchen perfecting my recipes. Every recipe I have is authentic and it took trial and error, mistakes, time and money to perfect everything that I put out for my customers. I went through many phases trying to find my “style” as far as decorative aesthetics for my company, what my desserts would look like and what I would offer. Also, funding for a small business that’s not yet completely off the ground is always a difficult thing. I would work my full-time job, 40+ hours a week to help fund and build my business up. I would get off of work drained, but as soon as I started baking, I was filled with energy again.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Layers by Lo – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Layers by Lo is a 100% vegan and gluten-free bakery. As of right now, we are most popular for our cupcakes. We offer a menu of regular cupcake flavors, as well as a featured “cupcake of the month” flavor for each month of the year. In addition to cupcakes, Layers by Lo offers layer cakes, cookies, brownies, and many more items to come! I am most proud of making my customers happy, truly. Customers are what drives a business. From parents with children with celiac disease who can’t have gluten, to people who have dairy allergies, to my fellow veganist and nonveganist who just love great baked goods, it’s all an experience that I love. It makes my heart warm to know that I can provide this satisfaction and happiness to families, and I want to keep spreading that as far as possible. Layers by Lo is not your average vegan bakery. We’re on a mission to spread knowledge about health, and happiness through baked goods. Turning things that people would’ve never thought to be made vegan, into great tasting treats and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My first plan for the future is to get a storefront for Layers by Lo. To get me there, I am working hard day in and day out to make my business better each day. I am looking forward to continuing serving my customers and continuing my mission.
