Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Renee Sunday.
Dr. Sunday, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I just a girl from Alabama who made a decision to strive!
I grew up with very humble beginnings. And in case you don’t know what that means, we were poor. But what’s so amazing is that what we lacked financially, we had in love. We had in respect. We had in character. We had in servitude. So in all actuality, we were more prosperous than most.
My parents instilled values of education and goal setting in us. Just because we didn’t have what everyone else had, we weren’t allowed to live in mediocrity. Education was very important. Thus, I found myself striving for perfection and my grades were extremely important.
Life happened, inevitability showed its head, and adulthood came with major blows. While I had certain plans and timelines for myself, they didn’t all get to work out how I imagined. But I graduated from great schools, was in a great career, and was making money to take care of myself. Then one day, my 6-figure income was snatched from me – without warning. And while that was one of the roughest and toughest times in my life, it forced me to emerge from the shadows and become who I was created to be.
Tragedy had to strike so that triumph could be birthed. My brother passed away and a book was birthed to help those who’ve dealt with grief. My 6 figure income was snatched, but I was nudged to put myself in position to be seen, be heard, and get paid.
Today, I’m a successful Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Entrepreneur. I’ve been blessed to be award winning in the world of medicine and I’m also a best selling author. I spend my time showing others how to tap into their potential. And I push them to see that something good can always come from something detrimental.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Reading and following my sister – Cassandra. I gleamed from her… To her probably a nagging little sister. Cassandra is my role model in every aspect of being a powerful woman.
