Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Butler.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Goodness, I don’t even know where to start! From being a girl that grew up with always slicking my hair into a ponytail or bun because I had too much hair to deal with to discovering extensions that could be manipulated however I wanted whether it be curled or bone straightened without even damaging my real hair. I started wearing extensions back when Indian Remy pack hair was the hottest brand on the market! As time went on and the hair market continued to grow, I grew with the market as well. I went from having a partial sew into doing lace closures! I was known in college to always have very natural sew-ins and quality hair, which I constantly referred someone to the company I received my hair from.
However, I would spend so much money into the extensions and risk playing the gamble of if I would receive a good batch of hair or not. I felt there had to a better way to look good for a cheaper price! So in late 2015, I started the venture of actually looking into wholesale vendors to eventually get started with launching my own hair company and to be honest I got very discouraged & started second guessing myself which lead to putting the great idea on the back burner & focusing on my Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Case Management for the next year or so. But one random day, I did some talking and bouncing ideas off of my friends and got inspired to start up this idea again & after months of trial and error in May 2018 I was able to launch Honeybee Hair Collection, LLC with the mission to sell quality hair for reasonable price!
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh No! This road has not been smooth at all. One thing that has kept me positive and lifted is the massive amount of support I’ve received since launching this company and I can’t thank people enough for believing in me! Before launching Honeybee, I had so many thoughts and scenarios run through my mind & truly didn’t know what the outcome would be but I’m firm believer in never quitting no matter what! I want to say my first year has been rough with getting accumulated of being a business order, but my biggest struggle to this very date is that no matter the level of customer service you present your customer with, there will be customers that can truly be unsatisfied with their order and as an owner you have to learn to accommodate and makes those necessary changes to please the customer.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Honeybee Hair Collection story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the owner of Honeybee Hair Collection, LLC, the company sells 100% virgin extensions in four different beautiful textures. Our textures include Mink Sleek (straight), Beehive Swirl (New Loose Wave), Honey Italian (Italian Curly), Viva La Curly (Deep Curly) & Honey Ripple (613 Blonde) in the inches of 16″ to 30″. We also provide 4×4, 5×5, in selected closures & 13×4 frontals in all existing textures. We are known for selling quality extensions for a reasonable price & take pride in just that! With our company just starting, we wanted to be able to get our name out for a decent price with a reputable rapport and build our way up to the market value price! Honeybee Hair Collection is very proud to state we provide amazing customer service and will make sure you are satisfied at the end of the experience! It is not better feeling to have customers email or send messages on Instagram stating how beautiful or confident they are with our extensions.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I would personally define success as not speaking on what’s been accomplished but allowing others to do so for you. Success isn’t about the money or fame that individual gains but more so about the amount of people that you’ve touched/inspired throughout your journey. The more people that express to me how much I’ve inspired them or continue to speak positivity about the company, I think I am getting closer to being successful.
