Today we’d like to introduce you to Myesha Good and LaDawn Blackett Jones.
Myesha Good and LaDawn Blackett Jones met when Good served as the campaign manager for Jones’ successful bid for the Georgia State House of Representatives in 2012. However, independently they have helped several candidates from judges, city council members, commissioners, state senators, school board members, mayors, just to name a few to run for elected office and win. They realized that to increase wins for Democrats around the country, more attention was needed to recruit viable candidates and prepare them for their run for office two or more years before they decide to run.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle is getting potential candidates to understand the benefits of advanced preparation. Many candidates jump in a race a few months before the election and we want to change that trend. To be a viable candidate, people must prepare well in advance.

To help facilitate these training, PolitaCoach created a space designed to train and prepare candidates to run for office. The HQAuburn co-working space is designed with other political consultants in mind. HQAuburn has grown into an incubator for other small business owners that want to host meetings, campaign events, and fundraisers, as well as to coordinate field organizing activities like phone banking as well as meet their clients.
