Meet Ezron a.k.a. Ezzy Benjamin of Sound Xplosion Entertainment in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ezron Benjamin a.k.a. Ezzy.

Ezron, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After being discovered at home in 2001 in Brooklyn, NY, I began my career as a disc jockey with a small group of DJs who were all from different countries. They all thought that my musical knowledge and selections were enough to join their team. I was in disbelief but was convinced all at the same time. At that time, it wasn’t just about my most favorite hobby. Taking that talent to another level was extremely important, as I quickly grasp the business concept. Two years later, I left the team and started my service. However, the other members of the team and I remained close, and we collaborated on many different events after that.

In 2007, I left my wife and infant son in New York and moved to Atlanta in hopes of a better life for my family. I hardly knew anyone here, and many of my close friends were skeptical of my actions. However, I had already convinced myself about the move and refused to allow anyone to distract me from facing that challenge. Once I arrived, a family friend invited me to DJ at her annual backyard summer party. That event immediately led to many other events across the city. In December 2009, I officially launched my company, Sound Xplosion Entertainment, LLC, with a desire to present myself and my service more professionally. The company then began to provide its service to some of the largest organizations in Metro Atlanta. Later, Sound Xplosion Entertainment became the umbrella for my other future media platforms.
In February 2012, I was invited to join the then “WWWE Radio” 1100 AM as a radio disc jockey. During that time, I was also a co-host with another show on LOVE 860 AM; In 2010-2012, I co-hosted Caribbean Focus TV, a show centered primarily on showcasing the Caribbean culture on the Xfinity/Comcast Network. During a three years absence from Television, I used my time to focus extensively on my radio career. However, I rejoined the show in October 2015 which at that time was being aired on the AIB TV network in the State of Georgia. This experience helped me to learn the interview process by ensuring that the comfort of my interviewee is always a priority.
For many years, I was affiliated with multiple media outlets. All of which I helped to inspire their growth by teaming up with organizations and local businesses; and creating a trend of live broadcasts in various communities, cities and on the international level. However, in 2013, I took my talent to another level by leading a group of radio personalities from different radio stations in the NYC tri-state area with a live broadcast from Nassau, the Bahamas on a special promotional tour. In 2014, I received recognition as one of the top 40 Grenadians for my efforts and contributions to the Diaspora by the New York-based Total Caribbean Network (TCN). In the same year, I also held the position of “Director of Production” and as an on-air personality with WRCI Power 102.1FM. During that same period, I hosted multiple weekly radio shows which were syndicated on other FM and online radio stations across the USA, internationally in as far as the Gambia, in Africa and my homeland, Grenada. In 2014, 2015, and 2018, I co-hosted the Grenada Day Festival, which is considered to be one of the largest and well-attended events in Toronto, Canada. In April 2016, I also hosted the first ever International Pure Grenada Music Festival (PGMF) in Grenada, where I introduced performances from global reggae icons such as Etana, Steel Pulse, Jesse Royal, to name a few. Many artists from around the world participated in the event.
Although I always appeared to be involved in a project that I believed in, it certainly wasn’t a comfortable journey. However, I understood the importance of keeping the wheels moving forward, knowing that the process can become even more difficult at unexpected times. As I continued to strive for excellence and success, one of those problematic time presented itself when my shows were cut simultaneously from all platforms. The opportunity to air one final appearance on the radio was not an option, according to the respective owners. However, not understanding fully what just happened at that time, I launched an investigation. I was able to obtain evidence which clearly showed that members of my team created a conspiracy to end it all for me. That didn’t deter me in my quest to accomplish the goals that I’d set for myself as a media personality. Approximately two weeks later, the opportunity of owning my platform, 106LiveRadio.com became a reality, under the parent company of Sound Xplosion Entertainment, LLC. I wasn’t sure if I was quite ready for the work that follows, however after I accepted the offer. From there on, I was able to bring more of my vision to life by helping the community through network opportunities and media. I also helped turn other dreams to realities by welcoming and teaching new hosts in their desire of becoming on-air personalities. Without any limits in sight, 106LiveRadio.com quietly grew to be heard in over 150 countries and over 4 million hits on its stream. My shows continued to make an impact with a diverse and unique approach, which attracted many celebrity guests. The list includes Mr. Killa (Int’l Soca Monarch, 2019), Maurice Smith (Jamaican Olympian and Medalist), Lee Haney (8 times Mr. Olympia Champ & IFBB professional bodybuilder), Eshe from Arrested Development, Spragga Benz, Chante Moore, Freddie Jackson, Tony Tone Toni, KCi & JoJo, Whodini and Stephanie Mills, Eric Benet, just to name a few.
With an already full plate at hand, my desire for more was evident that I still had unfinished business to conduct. In 2019, I launched The Spotlight w/ Ezzy (#EzzySpotlight), another Sound Xplosion Entertainment brand, which is a visual segment created with a vision to shine the light on the hidden gems in our communities and beyond.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road most definitely hasn’t been an easy one. There was an extensive list of challenges along the way which included a lack of support from most family members. A few years ago, my radio and other pieces of DJ equipment were stolen. Goods and services to which I paid for were never delivered. The journey became incredibly lonely with little or no help…, being exhausted continuously and a lack of adequate rest, to name a few were some of the struggles along the way.
Sound Xplosion Entertainment – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sound Xplosion Entertainment provides a DJ, online radio and other media/entertainment related services. I believe that I’m best known for his professionalism, dependable and reliable service. I am incredibly proud that even as an individual, from the CEO to the janitor, I have been able to provide these services consistently, while being able to maintain at least 90% of my clients over the years.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe there’s no limit to success. However, progress is to be able to inspire and to make a positive impact in other people’s life. Can you imagine a world without envy and jealousy? Helping someone fulfill their dream, sharing my knowledge and experience is near to my heart. Also, being able to accomplish the goals that I have set for myself, while I accept some of the most challenging challenges simple means that I am successful. My success is bringing my vision to fruition, and not by the work of others.
