Meet Artavia Pray of Keep Praying in College Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Artavia Pray.

Artavia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I came into my understanding at the age of 29 after I had lost everything, I had nowhere to go and barely anyone to trust. I started reading my bible that a pastor had given me because I wanted to have a better relationship with God, I even began to listen to T.D Jakes every morning for guidance on youtube, the more I listened, read, and prayed the worst things got. I almost lost my car, quit my job, and was one problem away from losing my mind! In the process, I was sleeping at some of my friend’s house then when that came to an end, I slept in my car for a week because I had nowhere else to go. The more I prayed, the more God spoke to me. I had to make sacrifices and be obedient if I were willing to walk with him. I felt like a dark cloud was over my head and I had lost my smile. But I kept praying. I was praying so much I began to get tired, but I never stopped, I felt like I was being crucified for something I wanted no parts in. But I continued to pray, I thought he was trying to destroy me, but the whole time he was molding me. He showed me who he was when nobody else was around to wipe my tears. He gave me peace during my storm. I wanted to pay him back by telling others how amazing he is and starting a godly t-shirt business with the slogan Keep Praying because no matter what you go thru in life if you keep God first and Continue to pray, and walk by faith and not by sight, you can make it through anything.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, not! Having people walk away from me when I needed them the most. Being talked about because I was homeless. Being talked about by the people I fed. Sleeping in my car in front of an abandoned building while it was 31 degrees outside and not having enough money in my tank to turn the heat on. Washing up at the gas station on Bankhead every morning before work.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Keep Praying – what should we know?
It’s a Godly t-shirt business called Keep Praying, I make and sell shirts for anyone that needs to be uplifted and motivated on a spiritual level. I’m most proud of the message that I’m spreading to the community. To keep Praying. What sets me apart from others would have to be my heart, my personality, and my ambition.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being able to understand and relate well with others.
