Life and Work with Jamie Bollinger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Bollinger.

Jamie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Music has always been a part of me. I had the great fortune of growing up in the church and around music my entire life. My earliest recollection of singing is at age three, standing in my Grandma’s music room practicing “I Am A Promise” for an upcoming special during a Sunday morning church service. As far as playing piano, well my mom made me (along with my other siblings) take lessons from age five through at least 12 years of age. Although the practice and learning weren’t always fun at the time, I’m thankful for her backbone and instilling in me the discipline, fortitude and consistency it took to develop those piano skills during my childhood.

Through the years, my love for music developed deeper as did my heart, desire, and passion to sing and play within the church. All of those characteristics combined plus my growing relationship with the Lord, led me to a greater awareness of who God was and my ever increasing longing to worship Him through my music.

Many say, that some are just born with natural talent. That may be true to some degree, but I absolutely believe that I would not be where I am today if I did not have mentors and coaches pushing me on to greatness every step of the way; even when I lacked the belief and confidence in myself.

Somewhere in those early years, that seed must have taken root and I discovered the importance and beauty in passing it on. Not only am I passionate about using my own gifts and talents to lead others in worship through music and for the Kingdom, but I also have that same desire to raise up others to be all they can be by helping them push past their fears and inhibitions and develop their music and leadership skills in every way possible.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all!

It’s been an interesting journey for sure. There can be a lot of adventurous twists and turns – no matter what road you are on.

However, I will say, many of my struggles have come from my own insecurities, not believing in the gifts and talents that God has given me and not fully believing that what He has called me to was enough. It’s definitely been a process for me personally, but I have found the truth and joy about who He says I am and what He has purposed for me to do with my life.

For anyone just starting out on this journey I would say, first get to know God and what He says about you and experience His love for you. Once you learn and embrace His Truth about what He thinks of you, you will have a firm foundation to build upon – no matter what obstacles you run into. From there, embrace any and every opportunity you have to use your gifts to exalt God and bless others.

Please tell us about your work.
I travel nationwide as a worship leader, musician, speaker, songwriter, mentor, coach, a consultant for churches, gatherings, conferences, retreats and training workshops of all sizes and ages.

In addition to traveling, I also have a private coaching music school locally as well as an online vocal coaching program that is accessible no matter the location.

I am grateful for every opportunity and blessed to do what I love. No matter what the event type, my goal is to glorify the Kingdom of God. Period. In leading worship, speaking or songwriting; my desire is to direct others to God and invite an atmosphere where He can come and minister, move and speak to His people.

In mentoring and coaching, I cheer others on to greatness and develop their gifts and talents; no matter their age. I know the struggles that come with lacking confidence and feeling hopeless in growing musically. I love the opportunities to come alongside others and help them break through their fears, embrace confidence and thrive in their music goals.

What am I known for? Haha, well, many often say that “I am the real deal” (whether they are talking about me as a worship leader or a music coach).

I tend to take that as – what you see is what you get. I am an all or nothing, energetic, a fun-loving soul that’s not out to impress people.

In my worship – I am raw, passionate and just ready to go to the Throne of Jesus. The invitation is open for all, but I am going regardless.

In my coaching, I am real, honest, energetic and always challenging the student to dig deeper.

Those qualities alone, are what set me apart from others in my field.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
In this day and age, I believe we all have great opportunities in front of us. It’s just a matter of what will we do with them.

All of us are created beautifully, wonderfully and uniquely. We have each been given specific qualities and gifts that set us apart.

My encouragement to anyone reading this and wondering what their next step is – embrace who God has created you to be and walk with confidence and boldness in every opportunity that you are presented with. He has the best in store for you! He will open the right doors and shut those that weren’t meant for you to open.
