Meet Pam Lasier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam Lasier.

Pam, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in a small town in central Illinois. I married after college and moved to Chicago to begin a teaching career. After 14 years as a first-grade teacher, having three children, and becoming an avid marathon runner, our family moved south. I volunteered in my children’s schools, with their sports teams and had an integral role in founding the Community Arts Center of Clemson. I started a soon-to-become 20-year journey of section-hiking the Appalachian Trail. I am proud to say; I will complete the entire 2,190 miles in 2020. I became certified as a life and fitness coach, opened and ran a small wellness studio in the Atlanta area, organized and facilitated wellness retreats, worked as a corporate wellness consultant and started speaking professionally. Today, I am a change-readiness speaker and authoring my first book, Don’t Forget Your Gypsy Toes: A Mindset for Ultimate Success in Work and Life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have struggled through a staggering amount of life-altering changes. I consider myself an expert on resilience because of my real-life experiences. From the challenging demands of running marathons and being a seasoned adventurist, to the pressures of becoming an entrepreneur and small business owner, to the night of August 8, 2010, when a devastating event catapulted me into a major life transition…

It was shortly after midnight when the fire began smoldering in the walls of my home, undetected by smoke detectors. Living in a home with pine walls and ceilings… well, you can only imagine… it took five minutes from the time I was startled out of a sound sleep from a horrific roaring sound to crawling on the floor gasping for air, to jumping off a 2n’d story deck, to the entire house collapsing. A mere five minutes. Five minutes for my family to escape our version of a towering inferno. Five minutes for my home to be reduced to piles of stone, mounds of deep black and gray ashes… five minutes. My family survived. We lost every single thing we owned. With two shopping bags from The Red Cross in hand, we made a choice to move forward, keep a positive mindset, to begin a new and different life. I can honestly say I know a thing or two about grit and resilience!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
