Meet Uptown Geno of Free Juice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Uptown Geno.

Uptown, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was introduced into the music business by a Korean rapper by the name of Vicks, who sound like T.I. I would accompany him during photo shoots, music videos, and shows. Being behind the scenes and seeing what was needed to brand an artist was a mind blowing experience. My songs were also chosen to be featured on Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes. Appreciating dope talent and great music, I became a fan of open mic shows. I started a promotion company called Free Juice and threw events mainly in Atlanta. Promoting is exhilarating when you can create an experience and people have a good time. After a few successful shows, I went from doing monthly showcases to promoting various Atlanta clubs on a weekly basis.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t always smooth. There were times no one came to a show after spending money on the venue, talent and promotion. Losing hard-earned money and not getting the right reception made me depressed at times. I spent countless nights studying trends and influencers so I can develop a formula to engage people attention. Learning to be more outgoing and being comfortable in my own skin were things I had to endure and conquer. Understanding that was I was leader and being efficient with my tactics were essential

Please tell us about FREE JUICE.
Free Juice is a event planning company that does club promotion, teen parties, private events, and concerts. Free Juice is in tune and in the mix with mainstream music, underground hip hop and the indie scene. My company is well known for our concerts, awesome parties and events. My most proud moment is when Zaytoven came in attendance with 30 people in sprinters to our concert event called Dripfest. Dripfest is a annual concert series where Free Juice handpicks the trending and hottest artists in Atlanta for an insane concert. Artists like Kyngg, Euro Got it, and J Holiday with attendance of couple celebrities from Black Ink and the cast of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta have been in attendance. It’s amazing and excites us to entertain people and get asked to put their events together. We also do artist development and level up artists with photo shoots, radio interviews, promo tours and more.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is hitting a half-court shot to win the game. I also scored 47 point in one game.
