Meet Trailblazer Lakeisha Beavers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeisha Beavers.

Lakeisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have a great passion for being creative and promoting self-awareness. Thanks to my artistic family and having my first moving experience be attending an HBCU. Fort Valley State University is where I truly became to know myself, my interests and develop my love for creating visuals and platforms for other artists. I’ve had the pleasure of working with world changers and most importantly, my best friend and business partner, Dalia Grey to develop a show for independent artists called Book Club that can be viewed on YouTube!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve had and still have struggles on this journey, but the most important thing is that it builds character and resilience. For those who are just beginning their journey, know that you may have to deal with all types of stress and struggles from financial to internal. It all plays a role in the process, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. You have to pray, gain control of yourself and understand what needs to happen for you to evolve in your works. Things will fall in place the more you keep to it!

We’d love to hear more about Book Club Music Show.
I’m also known as “Keish.” I’ve produced and hosted various YouTube shows over the past several years and still going! The latest is Book Club Music Show where my partner and I interview various independent artists. The show gives them a platform to express who they personally are behind their creativity. It’s my latest and greatest independent production involvement.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Both of those things are great to do! Networking is the most important, because it’s good to expand knowledge of yourself through mentor-ship and your brand. It’s also great to gain opportunities to work with other people who share your same interests through networking.
