Meet F.A. THE PLUG

Today we’d like to introduce you to F.A. THE PLUG.

F.A., please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been very passionate about music since a kid. At first, I never knew exactly what I wanted to do in the music industry but I knew I wanted to be a part of it somehow. After high school, I was everywhere around the city finding different ways to network with major artists. I was getting a lot of placements for producers I was working with at the time, from mixtape placements to even radio singles in the city. Over time, I built a lot of powerful relationships that helped me get to where I’m at now as an artist manager/independent A&R. I’ve been bouncing back and forth from Houston to LA for almost three years to expand my career in the entertainment industry.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been easy, but nothing in life is supposed to be easy. I’ve been going at it for the last ten years, right after I graduated high school. Some things happened fast and some things are still taking time to happen. In this industry, you never know what to expect, unless you try and take the risks. I’ve sacrificed my education, relationships with my friends and even family for the love of this game. I’ve put a lot of people in the position to win before myself, as a manager, you have to be a very selfless person, and a lot of times you won’t get credited or acknowledged for all the hard work you put in. However being a visionary, if you see a vision then follow it and stick to it because consistency is key. A lot of people who didn’t believe in me at first now congratulate me, even though I am nowhere where I want to be yet.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Everybody started calling me “The Plug” because I’m known to connect the dots together and for plugging people in with whatever they might need to advance in whatever they’re doing. I pretty much offer management/artist consulting services. If I truly believe in somebody, I’m going to go super hard for them to make sure we reach our full potential. Even though sometimes I feel like giving up the people around me remind me how proud they are of my progression over the years from where I started to where I’m at now. Sometimes, it’s a shock to myself the personal relationships I’ve built with legends I grew up listening to. I think what sets me apart from others is my drive to help others get in position to win.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a class clown who made others laugh. I never got into actual real trouble, I could have been more focused on school but I was worried about fitting in too much sometimes but overall growing up was cool for me. Everybody knew I was a funny and caring person. I was always a big fan of basketball and music obviously, especially Houston rap which influenced my lifestyle heavy.
