Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana Grant.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ariana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Wha Gwan!
I’d like to think of myself as the average Jamaican-American Millennial Woman, but I learn so much more about myself every day!
Growing up in a single-mother household, with three other siblings, I learned that God, family & culture are the most important things to be cherished in this world. I often put “The Arts” (music, poetry & drawing) as a close runner up. I graduated Magna Cum Laude back in 2017 from Georgia State University’s Honors College. I am a first-generation college graduate. Crossing that stage I knew that I could overcome any possible challenge I faced along my journey to becoming an International Immigration Attorney.
Has it been a smooth road?
Trust me, life was not easy!
With God and the support of my family, we were able to overcome several obstacles. The key is to trust God and seek assistance; furthermore, I believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity/proper access to legal services.
This is where I step in! I can proudly say that in the Fall, I will become a JD candidate in law school! I look forward to providing speedy and efficient legal services to those suffering in minority populations such as people of color, immigrants, LGBTQIA members, the elderly, &, etc.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Overcoming Obstacles & Trusting God story. Tell us more about it.
Right now, I act as an administrative support assistant at a law firm in Midtown. I have gained valuable experience here and have made some great connections for my future endeavors.
In this company, I am most proud of the open communication & respect displayed between my fellow employees and I. From the operations team to the partners at the firm, there is a sense of community. Everyone is working towards a similar goal whether it’s IP litigation, immigration, or Civil litigation, each person wants to provide their client with the best/most affordable service possible.
What sets me apart at my job is the fact that I am diverse. I bring extremely unique thought processes, culture & awareness to the fields of International and Immigration Law.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I plan to graduate from Law School with honors as well. I will schedule a time for pro bono and community service work. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, giving to those in need is extremely important to me. I will always be active in my community! I see the world is consistently changing. There is a greater need for assistance for immigrants growing more and more each day.
