Today we’d like to introduce you to Malik Albert.
Malik, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started music on my own. I always would beat on the walls, the handrails, the tables all that. I would always e humming and stuff, writing raps, probably since the 4th grade. I was always interested in music, you know when you get chills from music or get happy, I always wanted to be able to create something that could do that. So, when I was in about 7th grade, my mom bought me a keyboard after I told her I wanted to be a music producer.
Following that she put me in piano lessons till 10th grade. The whole time I was asking her to get me a laptop or something so I can make beats. Finally, in 11th grade, she got me a Mac. I was on GarageBand like crazy. Music wasn’t too good, cause I was going about producing beats all the way wrong. but I was cultivating my own sound while doing so.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road; from me, begging my mom to take me out of piano and to buy me a computer to make beats; to when I got the computer, me being the first person knew to make music running into all different issues I didn’t know how to fix; to finally making songs, spending hours on getting it just right, and people tell me its trash. its been a lot of ups and downs, a lot of disappointment, and rejection. But I was insanely confident in myself. So much so that I became kinda delusional. I wouldn’t let anyone make me think my music was trash. Whenever someone did tell me it was trash, it always says to myself, “they tripping, but back to the drawing boards.” But looking back on it the music was trash. I’m glad I got that confidence though.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Crucial Ent. story. Tell us more about it.
My business is Crucial Ent., we specialize in all forms of entertainment for people. Most of our content is more youth-centric. Most of our music is young people music. Heavy bass high bpm Atlanta music. We are in the midst of making videos for our YouTube channel, to give visuals for our music, and for skits and vlogs of the Crucial Ent. family which consist of Vxin (me), Won, Juice, Thoop, Air Mase (Dk Mob), and Dan. What makes us special is that we are all friends and that you can feel the fun and carefree vibes we give off through our music and vlogs. What I am most proud of from my business is the Crucial Ent. Tape that’s in the making right now.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve really only had good luck. God has really blessed me with all the right tools from my delusional confidence to having friends that are talented, to reuniting up with friends who moved across the country and came back with connections to studios and engineers. It is a lot of luck, but also a lot of blessings.
