Meet Aubry Claire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubry Claire.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated with a BFA and worked for myself as a freelance artist for about four years. I did a lot of commission/mural work and FX makeup on the side. As much as I loved being my own boss, I found my job to be very lonely. I am a very social person and being alone too much was very unhealthy for me.

People would always comment on my art photos on social media saying I should start to tattoo. So, one day, in a state of desperation to escape the loneliness, I posted a status on Facebook inquiring about tattoo shops taking on apprentices. And that lead me to empyrean tattoo in sandy springs where I began my journey. And as of this past April, I have officially been tattooing for two years.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think my biggest struggle is my strive for perfection. I am my biggest critic. I am a tortured artist. But that means I never half-ass anything so I mean, that’s good, right?!

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I like to give my clients a comfortable experience from the tattoo to the conversation. I enjoy getting to know my clients on a deeper level. And nothing makes me happier than seeing the client’s face when they see their new addition.

What were you like growing up?
Always moving. Always dancing. Always laughing. Always working. I have a lot of energy. Good vibes only.
