Meet Kirsten Nsirim of Have One More Bite in South West Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Nsirim.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kirsten. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a Native Atlanta of (ATLien to you), I have been entertaining people throughout my life with multiple talents. The first haute cuisine I made was a grilled cheese sandwich (take that Wolfgang Puck lol) after begging my Grandmother to use our smallest skillet. My first performance was with a hairbrush singing Whitney Houston’s greatest hits to my family. I took dance, did improv theater, chorus and reveled at how crowds reacted to me. As I have grown in my talents I decided to lean into them all with an emphasis on catering and private events. Creating @HaveOneMoreBite also helped me to use my talents as therapy. Having positive coping mechanisms is crucial to living with high stress, depression, and anxiety. This allows me to curate the mood and add activities like dancing, improv, podcasting, karaoke and much more to set the tone for an immersive experience through food and the arts. My hope is to help people to expand their palate and their expectations of entertainment

Has it been a smooth road?
Over the course of my life and throughout my entrepreneurial endeavors, I have endured some interesting struggles. I lost my Mother to the HIV AIDS crisis in 1997, and that affected me for many years afterward. I also recently lost the Grandmother that raised me and this too was a major blow to my ego. I was unable to focus and this hindered my progress academically and in business. I found it hard to find inspiration and at some point abandoned my projects indefinitely from dealing with unchecked grief. Once, I made the decision that my life and my art may be the way out of my grief, I started going to therapy regularly and eventually came up with the name Have One More Bite. It spoke to the experiences I had with my Mother and Grandmother. My Granny was notorious for making sure everyone ate and if there was food (especially vegetables) left on the plate she would say “Take One More Bite and you can get up from the table”. My Mother was also great at finding new and cool restaurants prior to Yelp, and when she found something she really enjoyed she would say “Let me get One More Bite!”. I miss them both immensely and I am very blessed and happy to have been able to have had them in my life for the short time they were here. I cook to ensure that the recipes they gave me bring joy to all those who dine with me.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Have One More Bite – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as and what sets you apart from others.
@HaveOneMoreBite is the center of all my business imprints (@BazaarEgo is our Lifestyle imprint while @IAMKiminche highlights our owners modeling skills). Food is more than just nourishment to me, it’s a way of life. At @HaveOneMoreBite we focus on creating solutions for all types of appetites! We do a monthly event called Brunch For Dinner where we bring in creative artists that range from painters to podcasters and develop a menu around that artist’s expertise.

@HaveOneMoreBite sets itself apart from its competitors by being open-minded and using a consultative process when building events. We delve deep into our clients’ art forms and ask relevant questions to build menus. We also immerse ourselves in their environments and networks to ensure we provide relevant options and even some surprises to their events. We are proud of the progress that we have made so quickly. Atlanta is full of branches and great restaurants but there was something missing and @HaveOneMoreBite has been able to fill the gap by creating custom private brunch events focused around Atlanta creative & artistic scene.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
As a real ATLien from the SWATs, I love my city with all my heart. The food, my people, and the rich history that we have politically, socially, and in the culinary world. However, I am not so excited about us experiencing the woes of tech and finance related gentrification. The spirit of the city is a bit lost in the sauce so my hope is to use my talents to remind all the natives and the transplants that Atlanta has a unique culture and it’s worth preserving and participating in.
