Meet Weku Did That of Weku Enterprises in North Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Weku also know as Weku Did That.

Weku, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m just a creative who likes to shoot dope short films or music videos and produce dope music. Everything actually started with music. I started out producing music years ago and then after a few years, I branched into my other love, film. So yes, I am a filmmaker and a music producer and I pride myself in being able to do both things. A lot of the times people will tell you to pick a lane and stay in it. I don’t always feel that’s necessarily the right thing to do so I decided to do what I wanted to do which was pursue film and music simultaneously, because that’s what makes me happy, and it happens to make other people happy as well so that’s a plus. Now I’m able to do what I love for a living and there’s no better feeling in the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
Struggles that I can say came up… I can say getting out there and getting known, being that I’m not originally from Atlanta, I’m originally from Orlando, Florida, but I’ve been in Atlanta going on six years now so I claim Atlanta at this point, lol. Finding a good team to complete things with was, and still is a problem on occasion because often, everybody is out for self in the music and film industry. Other than knowing who to trust and networking, I feel the road has been pretty smooth.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
So, I specialize in Film and Music production. Meaning I will direct a short film or music video, be the cinematographer for the project, edit the project, then produce music for it or vice versa, say I start off working with a client by producing a song then go in right after and shoot a video for them. My clients tend to like that they can get everything done with me at high quality. That is the thing I’m most proud of… is being able to do all that I do without sacrificing quality.

What sets me apart from the rest, well the quality and care that I place behind every project I’m attached to. I truly care about the project as a creative so each project carries a different emotion behind the themes they are built upon.

Another thing that sets me apart is the mask I’m always seen wearing. My face mask is like a doctors surgical mask. I put my mask on and I dial in on what I’m doing whether it be film or music, some people get it and some think it’s weird lol, but again it’s all about what makes a person happy. Some people wear sunglasses at night time, to each his own, you know.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry is definitely heading towards everything that is digital and independently owned. Everybody is doing something nowadays and everybody wants to release it in some form, and they want to remain the owner of their creations or content. People aren’t looking for music deals or film deals the way they used to, people are out there doing it and so that’s where I think it’s headed. People getting smarter business-wise and cashing in on their creativity.
