Meet DeAndria Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAndria Evans.

DeAndria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Empowering the people around me has always been a personal joy of mine. I love sharing kindness and seeing how it causes a domino effect. I’ve always been an artsy individual, I started teaching myself to sew at eight years old, but was creating costumes and other things from my imagination before then. I just, always knew this is what I wanted, I wanted to own a business that would allow me to be mobile, and also allow me to adorn people with love.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been challenging, but, I am honestly happy for the little bumps along the road. I believe challenges truly make my business stronger. I am so grateful to my support system of family, friends, mentors, and spiritual advisers that hold me accountable. I get frustrated and impatient sometimes, but my faith and my support system help keep me grounded.

Love, D.Jenee’ – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Love, D.Jenee’ is a socially conscious slow fashion brand that encourages women and the community to be bold for themselves. Right now, I focus on one resort collection a year, and each collection has a socially conscious mission. I also create the print design with the #elephantstrong logo and make copper wire earrings. My first collection, CO-OP (Collaboration of Odd Proportions) was all about women’s empowerment. That collection reminds us to embrace our differences because together were beautiful. I collaborated with @Doodlejor for the illustrations on that collection and it provided another dimension and gave a more whimsical vibe to the collection. I am most proud of the authenticity and sincerity I’ve been able to maintain. Love, D. Jenee’ isn’t a fast fashion brand, and we don’t mass produce. I strive to use every scrap of my fabric for one of a kind, custom printed, embroidered empowering pieces.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is powering through and finishing the projects I put in front of myself. It is sticking to my guns and not allowing other people’s lanes to distract my purpose. Success is affecting the world we live in with the possibility to create a safer space for the generations to come.
