Meet Chuanica Pickard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuanica Pickard.

Chuanica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Over three years ago, I left my hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina and moved here to Atlanta to further pursue my acting career. Prior to moving, I had done some modeling and acting gigs in my area for some years and was constantly in Atlanta for auditions so felt it was time to step out of my comfort zone and be in the area of opportunities. During this time, I’ve been involved in some projects here in both tv and film. As of now, I have been auditioning for many great projects so one day soon, I’m sure you’ll catch me on a tv screen near you!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This journey has not been smooth at all and there have definitely been some struggles! There is a saying that “if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.” This is true! I knew that chasing my dreams weren’t going to be easy. I knew that I would have to step out of my comfort zone and I knew there would be some challenges and rejection along the way. I’ve had moments where I felt and still feel at times so discouraged but I always remember that it’s all apart of the journey. I have to remember that my dream is worth the fight, struggles, failures, sacrifices, tears, sleepless nights, going without at times. I have to remember all the things I have sacrificed for this dream and the people that look to me as inspiration. I have to remember that we all have different journeys. What is for me will be for me in its timing. Everything I’ve been through and may have lost through the way is only prepping me for greatness. I believe that through my “waiting period” and the struggles, it’s in these moments that have helped mold me. In these moments, I have been learning more about myself in how hard I am willing to work In all aspects of my life to achieve my goals. It’s the time where you work on yourself spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically to prepare you for what’s coming. When you go through these experiences and even the rejection, it helps you to appreciate when those opportunities do come and to remain humble. There are moments I have felt like giving up because it’s been tough, challenging, I’m not where I thought I would be yet, moments where I’ve found myself comparing my journey to others and being genuinely happy for them and their success but feeling down because I didn’t get that “yes” or I didn’t get to share exciting news as them, -it happens, however, anytime I catch myself feeling down, I always remind myself that God is in control and everything will work out. My time is coming and I have to continue being patient, working hard, staying focused, staying encouraged, working on perfecting my craft, focusing on “getting ready” so that when it happens, I will BE READY for it.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
I am an actress and I am most proud of how far I have come on this journey thus far. I’m proud of the things I’ve accomplished both big or small. I’m proud of how hard I work every single day through my career, job, and personal life to continue to stick it out and achieve my goals. I’m proud that I haven’t given up despite how difficult it has been at times. Ultimately, I’m proud that I have stayed true to who I am without compromising.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always the cheerful, outgoing, full of life type of person. I was just always smiling, laughing, being silly, and loved spending moments with family and friends. I was involved in many activities such as dance, basketball, karate, and more! Basketball was the only sport I ever played and truly loved it at the time.
