Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalani Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m from Clayton County, Ga. close to a year ago, I lost my job and was forced to move in with my uncle. During that time, I used my 401k and savings to create an album called “30andbroke” and that’s how I started an entire campaign and movement called “broke.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been rugged. I started rapping when I was college, and my son lived with me until I was 27; after that, I was on a hunt to find a label to recognize my talents while living in Columbus, Ga, a city I was unfamiliar with but with grind and hustle I began to build a name for myself there.
What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I’m known for my music. My rapping tends to hit my follower’s soul. There’s a lot of passion in my words and my hooks are normally catchy. A good balance.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
More music. I’d love to get myself and my producer Nate Qwest a joint deal with a label or simply distribution. We want a Grammy!
