Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Deen.
Christy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Drip-Thru Coffee was formed in 2015 and we opened our first store in Stockbridge in 2016. The latest news from Drip-Thru Coffee is that we’ve added a second location in College Park in December of 2018. This location, like our first one, uses the coffee stand concept we were inspired to bring to Georgia from the Pacific Northwest. A customer from our first location encouraged us to check out College Park as we looked at expanding. We’ve found our concept has fit into the community. Those working and living in College Park seem to really appreciate our commitment to quality coffee, that is ethically sourced, and responsibly produced. We are looking forward to opening other locations in the Atlanta area in the future.
Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge for our second store was finding the right location. Having a community that will appreciate our products where we can also practically build and operate our business is not always straightforward. As we’d previously experienced with our first location, some issues arose with a lack of understanding of our drive-through only concept. Local government was at first reluctant until they understood our plan. It was definitely easier having gone through the process once already.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Drip-Thru Coffee – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Drip-Thru Coffee operates small footprint drive-through coffee shops serving coffee, espresso beverages, smoothies, energy drinks, pastries, and grab-n-go snacks (e.g. oatmeal, protein bars). We are committed to supporting local businesses. We source our coffee beans from Georgia coffee roaster, Cafe Campesino. We also use local vendors for pastries and sparkling water. Drip-Thru Coffee is also focused on reducing waste products from operating our business. All of our cups, straws, and lids are compostable. We reward customers who get their coffee in our reusable travel mug with a discount. We support our coffee roaster in their mission to source coffee ethically via fair trade. Drip-Thru Coffee acquires, prepares and serves our products in a way that is mindful of the impact it has on the world.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
We love Atlanta for its diversity. Atlanta offers up such a wide variety of neighborhoods. It’s wonderful how cosmopolitan Atlanta can feel, but still, maintain a vibe of being close to nature.
As far as dislikes, I think everyone can agree that Atlanta traffic isn’t that fun.
