Meet Damar Little

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damar Little.

So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In grade school, I would always have an urge to get on the computer and design, whether it was in school or at home. I’ve always been a creative individual. Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, I knew I was different from a lot of people but wasn’t sure what that “different” was. I started to take design a little more serious my junior year of high school where I became apart of the yearbook staff not knowing that the following year I would be the editor and layout designer. At that point, I knew for a fact that designing was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Fast forward to 2015, I met singer Bahja Rodriguez who is now a very close friend of mine, via Instagram. At the time she was looking for a graphic designer to join her team and I didn’t have any professional experience, but I knew this was something I been wanting to do for a very long time. So, I took a leap of faith, sent her my portfolio and the rest was history.

Thus far, in my design career, I’ve had the privilege to work with many companies and brands such as Interscope Records, Ear Drummer Records, Warner Bros Records, Think It’s A Game Records, A3C Festival, and more.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Moving from a small town knowing everyone to now living in a big city as a full-time entrepreneur has been one rocky journey, but I’m definitely enjoying the process. My biggest struggle is doing new business. A lot of my clients work in the music industry so when I’m creating artwork for album covers, stage visuals, logos and etc. for new clients, I have to make sure each client’s work looks different and has it own original drip.

Please tell us more about your artwork, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a self-taught Graphic Designer and Creative Director. I’m known for creating visuals that align with the clients’ mission statement. One of my proudest moments was driving down I-85 and seeing my artwork on a billboard in downtown Atlanta. I knew then all my hard work was starting to pay off. I think what sets me apart from others is that I stay true to my design style and not try to mimic other designers or even what’s trending at a particular moment.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
One major role luck has played in my life and business is having stability in Atlanta. Before moving here I didn’t know anyone personally I could reach out to for assistance. One day while scrolling on Instagram, I came across a post from Bahja saying she was looking for a graphic designer to add to her team. Four years later and we’re still going strong.
