Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatyana Williams.
Tatyana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As I started creating a discipline of caring and love for myself, I would build new healthy habits such as prayer. I would talk to God and confess as well as express myself. Within time, I realized that prayer literally means to ask while being specific. The closer I became God, the closer I became with myself. One night as I was praying I was like ” I don’t know my purpose or what I’m here for but I’m faithful enough to create until then. Immediately after, I started having epiphany and dreams that was so surreal and literal that I can touch it. My dreams that I was having encourage me to create it out loud, I had a dream about an Afro and the following week I start to obtain the supplies on creating a dream.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, it’s the law of gravity: what goes up, must come down. The struggles along the way have been too much consumption of social media lol, comparison of self with others and their paths, and solid discipline when faced with that moment the universe asks you “are you going to his house tonight or are you going to stay consistent on this dream you believe you can do”.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Tatyana Williams is the company, which is me. Have you seen the Afro is my first project though. All my ideas I treat as if I’m pregnant and when they’re ready to reveal themselves, I present them. I consider myself as a renaissance woman, I believe I can do all things. I’m in love with hard work and practice, it’s not about being perfect the end goal for me always is to have fun no matter what I’m doing. I don’t think I’m known at all since this is the beginning but I will be known as that woman that encourage you that feeling in your stomach that tell you ” you can do everything, don’t box yourself in. I’m proud that I actually created something and I went all the way with no matter what emotion I was feeling that day. What set me apart from others is Love, I share love like how waterfalls flow down the stream, it’s good.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be when I came up with the idea of creating a slip in slide in my mama’s house. I had to babysit my siblings and cousins while she went to the club and I asked her if I could take them to the pool, she replied back no. I am a very curious human, so telling me no is like putting a green light in my face. We had an automated ice machine so I started it off with an ice fight, then I put baby oil, dish detergent and water all over the floors. We all got naked and had a blast, it was so fun and the whoopin was so worth it when she got home that morning lol.
