Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Suway.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Middletown, New York and attended Bucknell University for undergraduate studies. I came to Atlanta, Georgia in 1975 to attend Emory Dental School. I earned a degree as Associate Fellow for the American Academy of Implant Dentistry in 1989 at the Medical College of Georgia. I attended the University of Alabama 1995-1999 and achieved a Masters in the Academy of General Dentistry. I am also a Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Additionally, I have completed many post-doctoral courses of study. My patients benefit from my ongoing training because I can offer them the very best and most modern dental techniques.
I consider myself to be in partnership with my patients. I help them understand how to best take care of their teeth at home and then, during regular office visits, I do my part to give them the healthiest mouth possible. After all, the mouth is the gateway to the body; a healthy mouth fosters overall health.
The services I provide run the gamut from all phases of functional dentistry to a wide range of cosmetic dentistry and sleep apnea oral appliances.
I have been practicing in the Marietta, Georgia area for over 35 years.
I am married with 2 sons and daughter in laws. I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling, listening to music and playing golf.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The landscape of dentistry has certainly changed in the last 35 years. Corporate dentistry has become more prominent, making it more challenging for the established solo practitioner.
Corporate dentistry is more focused on insurance and dollars instead of the quality of care of their patients. My focus has always been on educating the patient about their dental health and providing the best standard of care. The other challenge over the years I have encountered is related to locating a consistent quality lab for my restorative cases.
Wayne G. Suway DDS, MAGD – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a solo dental practice for family dentistry that concentrates in General, Implant, Cosmetic, Restorative and Dental Sleep Medicine.
Most patients will say I am known for my singing when I work. But they do not want me to give up my day job.
The caring and quality of my work is what I am most proud of. I also enjoy treating generations of families and watching patients grow up in my practice as small kids and return with children of their own.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
When I see the smile on a patient’s face as they have their confidence back after they first came in the office missing teeth and now have a beautiful smile to be proud of. This gives much personal success that I have positively impacted their life and their smile…
