Today we’d like to introduce you to Ferb G.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and I have been in Atlanta for eight years. I have always had an affinity for technology and graphic art because I was searching for an easier and artistic medium for self-expression. I bought my first camera in college because Mansion Elan wanted a photographer and I could get into the club for free. That was advantageous for me because I gained all of the benefits associated with owning a camera. That led to me taking photography more seriously, and once I understood what photography was about I liked it. I changed my major to creative media and began taking classes in order to perfect my craft. I am now a photographer and videographer for TIG (Think It’s a Game) Records, and I do freelance photography at my leisure. As you can see, I love what I do, and intend to keep developing myself and my brand.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. It was not a smooth road for me to get to where I am, but nothing worth having is going to be easy. You are guaranteed to experience setbacks while trying to accomplish your goals. One of my more difficult struggles was when I had to put my education on hold during my second year, based on my inability to prioritize. I did not take the necessary steps to successfully complete the process, to include falling short on submitting the required paperwork. This placed me in a position where I had to adapt and continuously educate myself without the structure of an institution, or formal education processes. In addition to educating myself, I still had to work in order to support myself and sustain an acceptable lifestyle, while chasing my dream. There were times, it felt overwhelming and I was upset because I believed I missed an opportunity to develop myself and work on my craft. I stayed motivated and persevered through the adversity, which allowed me to move forward and turn my passion into my profession.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a photographer and I run a company called “Ferb Shot This,” and we specialize in creative media such as; photography, videography, graphics, and more. I am most proud of the level of professionalism and quality that I bring to something I am passionate about. I put my all into each opportunity that is presented to me, and I think that is reflected in the final product. To answer the question of what sets me apart from other companies and photographers is that, for me, what I do is not about financial compensation. I have low prices because for me it is about the artistry. I like being able to assist other talented people in the development of their creative vision. I am allowed to use my creativity while learning about the individual I am working with, and we develop synergy for bringing their vision to life. I love motivating and supporting others who are attempting to reach new levels with hopes of helping them discover confidence in their abilities.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality and or characteristic I feel that is most important to my success. That’s tough, I feel like patience is the quality that determines a lot. You have to be to stay down through the rough times until you can see the sunshine. I also feel like your level of creativity plays a huge part in the business I’m in. It shows who is different in the industry!
