But this isn’t about The King, it’s about the King’s Queen. Joanae King is the experienced leader of the relationship and marriage community known to give you the 411 on how to build, grow, and maintain healthy relationships from dating to I Do. With over 600 women in her wifestyle Rolodex & 25,000 in her online community, King is not new to sharing the REAL about relationships. King uses her love for hip & hop and everything 90’s to teach women how to love themselves, their spouses, and their lives. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Having a business focused on Black Women and the way we love ourselves and nurture our families, there has been judgment and ridicule. It’s also difficult being present in business, as well as at home. Just trying to balance it all is something that I’m always trying to get better at.

Please tell us about Black Wives Matter – what should we know?
Black Wives Matter is a movement built around self-care for the Black Married Woman. I specialize in self-care, community building, and a place for us to feel comfortable and at ease discussing the stresses and the strengths in our every day lives. I’m proud to be the voice of women everywhere that feel as though they’ve lost their own voices… and aiding them in regaining their individuality is MOST rewarding.

That’s really what sets me apart. It’s less about marriage and more about the woman being healthy… which, in turn, strengthens the union.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
MY MOMMA! She has believed in me since day one. My husband pushes and supports all of my crazy ideas… and he will also play the devil’s advocate when need be. That’s so important. There are so many clients and cheerleaders that keep me going. Too many people to name. They all hold special places in my hearts, and the brand would be nothing without them.
