Meet Chris Harry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Harry.

Chris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I have always had a musical influence, from my grandfather who was a popular singer and musician in Georgetown, Guyana. He created music in the basement of our Brooklyn home day and night. I began singing at the age of four in my church choir and continued chorus throughout middle school and high school. I always wrote songs and poems and sang along with the newest R&B artists on the radio. Graduating from high school, I was offered scholarships for music, but I decided to go down a more lucrative path and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Columbus State University. I’m currently a Senior Accountant for The Home Depot Headquarters in Atlanta. Though I have built a solid career in accounting, I never let go of music. In 2016, I began recording original songs. One of which is, One in a Million, streaming on all platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, and many more.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been an easy process. Working a full 9-5, building a family, and working on my passion calls for many late nights. I’ve also struggled with writer’s block, doubting my talents, and not getting the recognition for the hard work. But, because I love it so much, it is a process I don’t mind struggling through for the day that everything takes off.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Specialize in creating melodies and hooks and writing my songs. I eventually want to write songs for other musicians. I am most proud of living in my purpose and not giving up on my dream. My songs are like my babies, and every time I finish one, I know that I am one step closer to my goal. What sets me apart from others is that I am not just doing this for money and fame. I want people to hear what I heard and create that connection.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have invested in my music equipment earlier. I would have also dedicated more time to music and taken it more seriously.
