Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Taylor.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia. In June of 2009, at age 16, I began to experience vision loss. By October of the same year, I was completely blind due to a genetic disease called Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy. Feeling completely defeated and devastated, I knew my life would never be the same. Fortunately, I had the love and support of my family and friends. With their constant motivation, I graduated from Brunswick High School in May of 2010. I then attend a local college and later transferred to Armstrong State University in January of 2015. While enrolled, I helped charter the Alpha Delta Alpha chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Graduating in December of 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in English Professional Communication, I took it upon myself to write and publish my first novel. My novel “Indignation” was released on Amazon in May of 2019. I am currently working on two more novels as well as an autobiography.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My road has been far smooth. The first struggle I experienced was losing my eyesight. The next thing I had to deal with was adjusting to day to day life as a visually impaired person. After graduating college, I was denied of many opportunities because of my visual impairment. I decided not to let that one thing control my life, which is why I put a lot of time and energy into writing.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I specialize in writing drama, suspense, and thriller books. I am most proud of the fact that I was able to publish my book along with the help of several very close friends and family members.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could start over, I would have taken my education more seriously prior to me losing my sight, as well as engaged in more reading. I also would have attended more networking opportunities in college.
