Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalyn Rowe.
Jalyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Art has been instilled in me since I was little… both of my parents were excellent drawers. I’ve always enjoyed drawing ever since I can remember and I started painting a little over a year ago and I haven’t stopped since.
Has it been a smooth road?
I wouldn’t say it has been a hard road but I will be honest and say that for me I would always compare my art to other artists; not fully understanding that there is no wrong or right when it comes to art. Art is what you make it… what you might see when you look at a picture may be totally different from what I would see. Not everyone will like nor understand what you create but for me, it’s how I express myself. Everyone’s view of art is different and that’s perfectly fine.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I call myself an Artistic Hippie for the simple fact; I’m a free spirit who paints whatever she feels at the moment. I guess you can say I’m known for my “Naked Girls” paintings… The Black woman is ART; a perfect expression of pain, struggle, strength, and beauty. I would say what sets me apart from most is my faceless concept I use; all my girls have no faces but yet the message still comes across clear.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The Art Industry is so broad; I definitely want to host my own art shows to make a real name for myself.
