Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana White and Timberley Lane.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
MomFriendsINC began when a group of girls decided to become Resident Assistants at Clark Atlanta University not realizing that a deeply rooted friendship would spark. We journeyed through college and all that comes with it to now being able to share the beautiful and ugly moments of motherhood. Shortly after giving birth, we both revealed desires to curate a business; we weren’t sure what the details of that business would entail, we just knew it had to happen. Through our support of each other’s postpartum journey, we gained more understanding of the importance of having MomFriends- reachable and available when we needed it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ehh- smooth not really, but worth it and necessary- YES! We’ve gained more self-appreciation and solidifying our value in motherhood than anything else. The struggles are typical; finances, moms not ready to speak about their postpartum journeys, resources, and just having extra time outside of motherhood and wifehood and selfhood and friendhood..you get the point, lol.
Please tell us about MomFriendsINC.
MomFriendsINC is an all about moms business. We acknowledge that moms need more than just a babysitter or a village for their child/children. MomFriends includes the convenience of allowing children to be apart of this journey but we highlight the needs of the woman first. We allow our mothers to feel safe enough to be vulnerable and transparent so that we can meet their needs both internal and external.
We currently host events that creates a space dedicated to all things moms; we connected with the Tiddy Powwow a podcast created by moms for moms to speak about any topic in a safe zone. We’ve created a platform at our events that allows our mothers the chance to express themselves without judgment or critique. We’ve been blessed to meet Dr. Vernette in Atlanta whose lifestyle and career is literally for the uplifting of women/mothers.
We are proud of our business because we are KID FRIENDLY. Our sole purpose is to encourage our mothers to enjoy the moment, the space, and the time all while their child is too. A lot of businesses and events in Atlanta that are for moms do not allow the opportunity to bring your babies, which keeps a lot of moms from attending events due to not having a babysitter. We pride ourselves on being able to provide all that our mothers need along with a safe zone for childcare.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Our hope is that if starting over was necessary, we’d be better than before.
