Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuel Salmeron.
Emmanuel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer” as we know is a very cliche phrase. It’s been said and used throughout movies, books, and in our daily lives. However, this phrase holds truth: with a picture, you’ll be able to cherish the memories forever as time goes on. That was my reason for photography. With photoshoots of weddings, families and their children, I moved on to landscape and urban photography, capturing every moment of history. Whether it’s of my own or someone else’s. When I was about 22 years of age and I picked up my first canon T5 camera, I knew photography would be apart of me. From seeing the streets filled with emotion and with those Friday game nights to walking along the city seeing people having a blast, I wanted to capture it all.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, the first struggles of many would be to learn photoshop and editing. Then, it was learning certain terms, ideas, postures, etc. I never knew what a “rule of thirds” was when I first picked up my camera. Nor did I know how to capture a long exposure.
Besides this, of course, it was life’s circumstances that got in my way. I felt that photography was no longer my passion until one night, as I walked through the city and could see an amazing sunset approaching, I knew my love for photography had come back.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Emansphoto – what should we know?
I specialize in landscape and urban/ street photography, however, I also shoot weddings and portraits. Although the former are not my strengths, every day, I thrive on getting better. From learning how to pose others, to photoshopping their “imperfections” as they say, to saturation, etc. My story and why I do photography is what sets me apart. I do photography because it defines who I am, what I want to become, and what I see in others, the pursuit of happiness.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Humble. Being humbles means more than serving others, but being there in their hardships, etc. Photography is an important aspect since it captures one’s hurt and happiness. Being humble allows me to get to know my clients, their stories, and allows me to open up to them and capturing their everyday stage of life.
