Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Rodriguez.
Kaitlyn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started when I was younger, I would bake occasionally with my mom. She was the one to teach me all about baking as I was growing up. I started baking more and more and really just familiarizing myself with how to do more and the things needed to be able to do more. Now, baking has just become a strong passion of mine. I am always looking to go that extra mile when it comes to baking. I’m so thankful that I have had the support of my friends and family to really encourage me to open up my own storefront someday- you can never have too many bakeries!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been a smooth ride. With life, comes challenges. Whether it was a challenging order or learning something new, there will always be obstacles. You just need to be able to understand that it happens. Try not to beat yourself up over it. Have faith that everything will be ok and in the long run it will all turn out the way you anticipated it to.
I like to keep in mind that whenever I have struggles, I just remember the good times that come after the struggles. The smile on the person’s face or that excellent review. It always pays off in the end.
Please tell us about Kaitlyns Cupcakes.
Well, I love to bake. I specialize in baking cupcakes. I’m known for doing the best I can with making what I can do to make the person ordering it, the happiest! I’m proud that I’m able to do what I can. So many times, I’ve heard people say “how do you do it?” and I just tell them I was blessed with the ability. Of course, it takes a lot of time and patience when it comes to baking but besides that, it’s easy when you really understand what it is you are trying to accomplish. I feel like what sets me apart from others is my dedication. When it comes to baking, whether I am completing an order for someone or just baking for pleasure, I am completely dedicated to making sure that I am making the best product I can make. I make everything homemade so it takes time. Believe me, as soon as you try my buttercream you will want to keep eating!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
When it comes to my business, I haven’t really relied on those kinds of sources. When I was first learning and trying to grow more into baking, I watched plenty of YouTube videos. I couldn’t tell you how many hours I sat on the computer or on my phone, learning different piping techniques or learning to better my recipes.
In life, I try and keep that positive attitude and just keep focusing on what’s ahead. Being in school and taking business classes has really helped me to understand people which has helped me to succeed more especially when it comes to my business.
