

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abdul Karim Abdullah.
Concept for Afrochella formulated in 2015 by Abdul Karim Abdullah. In 2017, Abdul and Kenny Agyapong decided to bring the idea to life in Accra, Ghana. Abdul reached out to Edward Adjaye, a childhood friend and a known brand advisor for Ghana’s BBNZ Live, joined the team. All together, the Culture Management Team was developed and Afrochella was founded. In 2017, Vernell Akyempong and Emmanuel join the leadership team to spearhead art, design and community involvement respectively.
Afrochella is a celebration of Africa’s diverse culture and the vibrant work of African creatives & entrepreneurs. The festival is designed to elevate and highlight the thrilling and thriving millennial talent in Africa by introducing an interactive event that teaches, explains, and explores various culture with a pioneering approach. Afrochellans will experience art and creative activations from the continent; celebrate African music, and taste premium cultured cuisine.
The first edition of Afrochella was held at the [Accra Polo Court] (http://www.accrapoloclub.com) on December 29th, 2017 with 4K+ attendees.
In 2018, Afrochella formalized a partnership with [BBNZ] (https://www.facebook.com/BBnZ-Live-152384671523249/) for digital content generation and event management.
In 2018, Afrochella Partnered with [Water-Aid] (https://www.wateraid.org/us/) to Raised 10,000 ghs for underprivileged families within Ghana.
The 2nd Annual Afrochella Festival boasted 10K+ attendees.
In 2018, Ghana’s Full Circle Festival includes Afrochella to their Itinerary, welcoming Celebrities like: Boris Kudjoe, Bozoma Saint John, Ebro Darden, and Jesse Williams to the festival.
In 2018, Afrochella festival because an officially sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism.
For 2019, Afrochella Festival is the official closing event for Ghana’s Year of Return.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Learning on the job was one of the tasks our team had to accomplish in order to be able to complete the task. We have had struggles fundraising, navigating through governmental regulations and understanding fully all the moving pieces that went into creating Afrochella.

Our mission is to promote networking within the Ghanaian community and Pan African Diaspora at large.
Ensure millennial Africans living around the world understand the importance of celebrating their native cultures and investing in it.
Serve as an informational vessel connecting the diaspora with the current news, fashion, art, music & business opportunities in Africa.
Using community influence to ensure educational support for Ghanaian and African students at large
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to be is improvement, making a difference in life of someone else and ensure our attendees are receiving the service they are paying for.
