Today we’d like to introduce you to George Lindsey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us George. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hey, there my name is George Lindsey but everyone calls me Lindsey, That comes from my being an Atlanta Police Officer. Everyone just kept calling me that so I ran with it and pretty much turned it into a brand. I am the CEO and Founder Apex Luxe Residential Group, and The Branded Agency Group.
I kind of always had this amazing energy towards real estate and architectural development since I was probably in middle school. One of my current aspirations now and always have been is to develop an amazing residential high rise community, back when I was in middle school even most of high school thats all I would sketch. Development I would say is my driving force. I’m captivated by the idea but also the process of taking a blank space and creating and bringing to life a whole building and its functions. OMG IM HYPED JUST TALKING ABOUT IT LOL.
I moved to Atlanta from Miami in 2010 to pursue a career in Law Enforcement with the Atlanta Police Department. Sometime during my tenure there I found myself being captured by the redevelopment of the whole city. From the Grant Park area where my precinct was located to the monumental leaps in development happening in the Old Fourth Ward area at the time. My passion for real estate started to comeback alive but it was hitting me hard, like I found myself stopping by construction sites asking millions of questions while at work, talking to the investors and of course people were more than willing to share the info with me because here I was standing in full uniform. I know it took people off guard lol and they probably thought they were in trouble, but I was just a curious ok nosey lol young man.
During that time, I wanted to kind of get my feet wet and network with investors just to learn what I could. So I turned to something that I knew I was amazing at and no one, and I mean no one lol could match me in. I started offering marketing and branding services to those investors. It ranged from helping them building marketing if they decided to rent out the property or building their companies brand. I got some crazy looks at first but eventually people started offering me opportunities. I’m a big advocate for learning always being a student. So most times my trade was I create you a marketing plan and you show me how development and business is done. I mean I already had a paying job so what the heck right.
At some point, I ran across a guy who introduced an idea that I should look into offering marketing and development consultations. I pondered on it and BOOM that was the starting point for both Apex and Branded. So yea here we are!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is a ride down Cheshire Bridge or Piedmont Road? Right lol. No but in all seriousness the road has been anything but smooth, but isn’t that beauty in starting the journey. We are created and molded by the things that we see as challenges. One thing I like to tell my friends but also people who work with me is that life is a journey that we are continuously being shaped by.
Some of the struggles along the way was realizing not everyone will cheer for you, even those close to you. Another was reshaping my circle. I don’t think we realize how crucial it is to have a strong and deeply rooted supportive circle, especially when embarking on the entrepreneur path. Having that can sometimes be the determining factor if you sink or swim. Another big one for me was execution. Yes, I am all business, all the time but one thing that distracts me a lot is getting caught up in the details of things and always wanting the platform of perfection. I would have an idea that I just know would be a game changer and get so caught up in the details of bringing it to life that it consumes me and by the time I look up 2 or 3 people have capitalized off that same idea. I listened to podcast and there was a guy on one who shared this ” Your competition doesn’t need you to fail. Only to hesitate” I almost ran down 85 lol. Execution was probably my biggest lesson whew!
I use this phrase I heard and I just use it to address my problems. I try to get everyone on my team to understand this as well. It goes a little like this ” EFFORT 2 IMPACT”. Meaning in order to continuously grow it takes effort and as long as our effort is substantially met with our belief in ourselves it has a strong impact in our success. Sometimes we don’t realize that everything really isn’t a problem more so we’ve reached a point where how we once operated we no longer can and in order to impact the change needed to move forward an effort must be made. I try to learn from everything I encounter.
Please tell us about Apex Luxe Residential and The Branded Agency.
I have Apex Luxe Residential Group, which is my real estate business. Apex is all things Real Estate. We offer services to buyers, sellers, investors, and developers. From Asset Management, Property Management, to Interior Design Consultations. Then there is The Branded Agency Group aka “The BAG” which is a marketing and branding consultation firm. We offer services from brand and business development programs and coaching to your curation of everyday marketing.
Apex specialty is market knowledge and asset development. We have worked on quite a few projects that I am very proud of. In asset management we perform task in helping investors and developers build and develop profitable portfolios from single family to my favorite multi-family! We also offer a specialty service to real estate clients we call ” Luxe Locators ATL” soon to expand to Miami. Luxe Locators is basically a concierge service that help real estate clients find rentals from apartments to private homes. Basically an upscale promote with all the bells and whistles lol. Offering that has been what has been able to set a ground root for the Real estate business. That’s a niche a lot of people and companies don’t like dealing with. My thought process was if I can take that concept and fine tune it with my twist. Those clients eventually transfer over to the real estate business either as clients or referrals. Remember we don’t have to recreate success just the delivery method.
The Branded Agency specialty is working with entrepreneurs and coaching them through the start-up of building and developing there brands and business. We offer coaching that is amazing and insight on how to introduce your brand into the market especially one that might be saturated. One thing that we have developed is our eight weeks brand builders program that is intense but by the time your done, your brand is functional and most likely bringing in some kind of profit. I think what sets us apart here are our one on one coaching calls held every Monday or the fact you can opt into a group coaching call for motivation and development.
One thing that I am most proud of is that I have been able to build two brands at the same time and be effective in both arenas.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite thing from my childhood is going to football games with my dad. Nothing to do with business but I am very big on spending quality time with the people you love and care about the most. My dad’s energy at these games uses to be contagious all his shouting and yelling. Which is crazy because that’s how I get explaining new building to my friends. I be yelling and jumping like a kid all over the place. There is nothing better than being surrounded by good vibes and love.
