Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Earley.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am originally born and raised in Northridge, California. I left home when I was 17 years old to attend Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. I graduated in 2012 with a degree in Speech Communication. At that time, I was working as a freelance makeup artist as well as a full-time product specialist for MAC Cosmetics. I had been in Nashville from 2007 to 2015 and decided I wanted a change of scenery and to begin new endeavors in a new city, so I packed up everything and moved again by myself to Atlanta, Georgia. I moved into an apartment and while I was paying $1300 a month for a very small one-bedroom, I told myself I no longer wanted to waste my money and pay off someone else’s investment. I knew that in the future, I wanted to own rental properties, but I hadn’t really seriously considered getting into real estate myself. After doing a lot of research, I decided that this could possibly be a field fit for me. I enrolled in Barney Fletcher real estate school in Smyrna, GA and went to school at night to obtain my license. I failed the class test and decided to retake the course again. I passed! Now, on to the really hard part; the state test. I failed twice! After spending almost $200 each time to take the test, I decided to get serious and focus. I fasted from social media, secular music and root beer (my favorite soda, weird I know lol) I literally studied day and night. I cried tears of joy when I finally passed on the third try. I was so excited. I signed on with Metro Brokers and began the home buying process… for myself.
October 2017, I was the buyer and the buyer’s agent in the sale of my personal property. At that time, I worked as an agent, but I still focused on my makeup career because that’s where my passion truly was. Fast forward to February 2019, I decided the brokerage I was with wasn’t a good fit for what I was looking for at the moment and I joined Quiana Watson and Associates, my team under the Palmerhouse Properties umbrella. It has truly been the best decision I have ever made. I closed on my second personal property in April 2019. By the end of the second quarter of this year, I have closed on 1.2 million in sales volume, with 3 million projected by the end of the year. This is so monumental for me because when I decided to transition into real estate full time, I was so nervous. I wasn’t sure how exactly what I was doing, or how it was going to happen, I just knew as God’s child, my passion had finally fused with my purpose. My mentor Quiana Watson has truly guided me and supported me every step of the way. My other team member Kiara Roberts has truly been encouraging during this process as we share this new, exciting career path together. I am so thankful to be where I am today because I know God has so much more in store for me. All anxiety has passed and been replaced with pure elation.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road! But is anything that’s worth having?! :)There are so many different brokerages with different commission splits, different levels of support and training, it can be confusing to choose which brokerage and/or team is a good fit for you. I had seen so many amazing Black women that were assisting so many families with the home buying process, like Zandia Oliver, Kendra Sanders, Marcia Coleman, Yakira Prise and so many more, I knew that the energy there had to be positive. It took me a very long time and a lot of Instagram stalking to decide Quiana Watson and Associates was the appropriate fit for me. But when we met, I felt her pure, high frequencies, and knew she quickly took a liking to me. That is challenging for some because I can be a ball of fire! Lol. But her pouring of knowledge into me has truly been pivotal in the road-smoothing out now. Palmerhouse Properties is a family of top-producing agents that generally work together to shift the stigma of homeownership within our communities. Being in this industry, there can be agents that are not so easy to work with, or it can be stressful when your appraisal comes in too low and can almost kill a deal, but as a solutions-based person, I just focus on what can be done to rectify any situation and keep my clients happy.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a licensed Realtor in the state of Georgia. As a Realtor, I am held to a higher ethical standard than other agents who are not apart of a Realtor Association. I specialize in first time buyers, relocation clients, and new construction contracts. I am known for my attention to detail. I pride myself for the rapport I build with each client. I am patient with them and will ensure that they are clear about every step of the way. There is nothing worse than making one of the biggest investments of your life and being confused or unsure about something at any point. As I navigate this journey with my clients, I constantly make sure they are aware of what is going on and what is expected of them to make sure their experience is exciting.
I write extremely clean contracts and make sure I am responsive during the entire transaction to guarantee the client experience is above par. What sets me apart is my knowledge. I have spent so much time studying the various agreements and contracts, I have an advantage when structuring the perfect offer for any multiple offer situation.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My faith is the most important aspect of my success. If I don’t believe in myself and the capacity of my business, who will? I literally see myself where I want to be, think it and speak it. Daily affirmations and tithing religious are a must for me.
