Today we’d like to introduce you to Rey Sunshine.
Rey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started performing when I was nine years old in my mom’s annual talent show. Georgia’s Hollywood Talent Show. Someone saw me and said she’s talented. From that point, I told my mother I wanted to be a performer. My told me to write a song. I did “Do Da Nuk.” From that everyone started asking me to perform at their event, party, celebration or festival. I took modeling lessons as well and have graced a few magazines.
From that my mother saw even more potential So She hired a choreographer and I learned to dance. I had been singing in the church choir at Destiny World Church, Austell since I was three. My mother saw even more potential in me so I took acting classes. Now I have a major roll in a touring stage play directed by Javon Johnson called “When love calls your name”. So here we are.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have been some challenges such as school because I would miss a lot of days because of shows and performances. So I was homeschooled last year. I’m trying public school again to see if I can attend, but I can see my schedule is getting very busy.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Born Fly clothing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Born Fly is my clothing line. I started it because people would always comment on my style. I like to look fly when I step on stage. I always wear pink hair because that is my signature look. I specialize in cut up T-shirts. My shirt can be customized to your request or I can design something for you. What makes my shirts different than others is I may add a ribbon or glitter or something to make it stand out.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the Atl bc of its rich heritage, black culture and the entertainment business. This is one of the places to be to follow your dreams and success as a young black entrepreneur. I don’t like to see the homeless, I wish I could help them all.
