Meet Meoshuh Jackson of Style 73 Image and Personal Branding Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meoshuh Jackson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Meoshuh. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. I credit the vibe and culture of the city, my family and close community with shaping me into the woman that I’ve become. One of tenacity, resilience, drive and compassion. Professionally speaking, I never saw entrepreneurship in my future. To be honest, I thought that running a business was something that was beyond me; I saw entrepreneurship as something for which I lacked the skills and personality. Conversely, it was always my desire to be a news anchor. Growing up, I always admired a popular Chicago news broadcaster, Cheryl Burton, and had decided that news broadcasting would, too, be my future career. I started off as a journalism major in undergrad but shortly thereafter switched my major. It just wasn’t in the cards for me at that time.

Fast forward two years post-undergrad, and at this point I’m working as a corporate professional. It was during that time that I became more in tune with the realization that I was called to do something much greater, but I couldn’t quite figure out what that “something” was. I felt as if I had little to go on in determining the trajectory for my future, so feeling lost and confused was definitely a major part of my story at that time. The one thing I always held on to, though, was the unwavering belief that my future was bright– I just needed to get there. During this time, I became a wife and mother, and after several years of trying to figure out my next move professionally, after birthing my second child, I became very intentional about leaning into God’s direction for my future. I became fervent about discovering and unveiling my purpose and walking it out. During this time of seeking and praying is when the vision for Style 73 was inspired, and in 2018 the vision was birthed. And the rest is history.

Has it been a smooth road?
Has the road been smooth? Absolutely not! As an entrepreneur or any creative for that matter, exposing to the world the very thing that you care so much about and that you’ve put your blood, sweat and tears into can be very intimidating. The fear of negative criticism can be overwhelming if you let it get to you. However, interestingly enough, the biggest voice of criticism you have to move beyond is your own! As creators and innovators, we can be relentlessly hard on ourselves. We just want to get it right! So much so, that we don’t know how to be patient with ourselves and value the process. This thing (entrepreneurship) is a process that is ever evolving and unfolding. We as people are ever evolving and we have to allow ourselves to make mistakes along the way. Aim to be excellent, not perfect! If perfection is the goal, you’ll never get started. Breaking through this has been my biggest challenge to date as an entrepreneur, but I’ve grown leaps and bounds in this area.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Style 73 Image and Personal Branding Consulting – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I like to consider myself the woman behind the brand! I’m an Image and Personal Branding Strategist, and the premise of my business is working with professional women, namely entrepreneurs, and helping them refine their public image and personal brand as they seek to move forward in their respective careers. So, I assist them in their professional image and signature style (this look varies from one industry to the next), non-verbal communication (body language), defining their personal brand, coaching them through how to make their brand stand out from others online and when engaging directly with others, networking strategies, and more. With entrepreneurs, I even do a ‘brand audit’ to see if all aspects of their brand ‘tell the same story.’ Trust and credibility are major factors of success in business. When people feel like they can trust you and find you to be a credible source, you’re more widely received. So, I go through each of the steps mentioned above (and much more) with my clients to make sure they appear as trustworthy and credible to their target audience as possible.

My ultimate goal is to push as many women towards purpose as possible. I’m not just a woman in business; I have a mission I’m trying to accomplish. I look at my business as a stop on each client’s journey towards becoming her best self. When women are done working with me, it is my goal that they are more clear than ever before about how they want their personal brand to show up in the world and are equipped with the strategies to carry it out. I want them to leave with full clarity concerning the mark and impression they want to leave on others through their business and beyond.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love ATL! The diversity, freedom of expression. It’s a city full of go-getters and I love that! I also love the rich history that is housed here.

What I like least about the city is the traffic!
