Meet Andrea Morgan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Morgan.

Andrea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got started in real estate about five years ago at the suggestion of my business partner who had recently acquired his license in Florida. I took a few tries to pass my licensing test (which reinforces the need for proper preparation in all things!) and since then I’ve focused on providing excellent, data driven client service and real estate education.

My previous career as a training project manager helps me to focus on breaking big processes down into manageable tasks and providing education along the way so that clients feel confident about their decisions. That focus led me to write a book, Pretty Girls Own Property: Your Guide To Reducing Real Estate Intimidation, as a means of providing consumer focused information to properly prepare buyers and sellers for the process.

I’ve come to understand that cultural specificity and familiarity are invaluable in meeting the unspoken needs of real estate clients. More than square feet and school districts, being mindful of and passionate about the things that make being at home peaceful is my focus. Working with women like myself has given insight that couldn’t have been gained elsewhere. Deep market knowledge, an inquisitive mind and a soul for service to all makes for an incomparable real estate experience.

Andrea combined her skills – being a nerd with presentation skills, and her passions – for lovely environments and helping people, into a real estate career for the technology age. Focusing on the happiness in the transaction rather than the art of the deal keeps Andrea and her clients moving in the right direction.

As a Southern Lady with an expansive worldview, technology fueled closings are the means to her desired end of investing in real estate for the purpose of providing homes to teenagers and young adults aging out of foster care. Andrea has volunteered to review cases in juvenile court for years and is keenly aware of how a stable home can make an immense difference for a child.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I didn’t pass my real estate licensing test (for either state, Georgia or Florida) the first time. Perseverance is necessary in this business. I have gone from million dollar months to zero dollar quarters, so it’s important to keep the faith and keep marketing. That can be hard when there is financial pressure but with sales jobs there is an expectation of ebb and flow. I’ve learned the value of a pipeline and the importance of setting aside ego and learning things that I thought I knew. Every day and every client is a new opportunity to get something else right.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a Realtor and my goal is to use market data, my experience and insight and great listening skills to make sure that my clients are happy at home. Real estate transactions can be overwhelming and I’m proud of being able to make that process, on either side (buyer or seller) more pleasant than painful. I’m proud of providing consumer focused information that helps people make real estate decisions that are in their best interests. The focus on having deep industry knowledge and patience to share share it sets me apart.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Washington DC till I was 12 and I loved going to the Smithsonian museums. My favorite was the Museum of Natural History, which houses the Hope diamond. I am a girl who appreciates sparkle! DC was also rich in architecture so I’m sure that has fueled my love of buildings and subsequently, real estate.

I moved to Georgia with my mom and sister when I was 12. In high school, I participated in drill team, academic bowl and was elected senior class president. I spent two summers on the campus of Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University) in the Summer Science and Engineering program which helped me think scientifically, focus on process and data. Those skills continue to help me in my current career. I started my college career at Emory University, finished with a B.S. in Psychology from Georgia State University (Go Panthers!).

I was an easygoing kid, annoyed my parents by bringing home stray dogs LOL.
