Nia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Notiq Agency is the expression of my passion for travel, facility with planning and organization, and deep love of helping people. I have been an entrepreneur for nearly twenty years. I became a licensed nail technician in high school and continued my manicuring business as a university student. I learned the ins and outs of providing top-notch customer service, staying abreast of industry trends, and cultivating new clients, all while earning a BS in mathematics and computer science – it was time well spent. After completing a masters degree in engineering management, I quickly climbed the corporate ladder and held a number of leadership roles and managed a global team with direct report employees in both the U.S. and abroad. My experience managing major corporate projects and teams of people put me in the perfect position to expand my work as an entrepreneur.
I started Notiq Agency in 2012, to offer wedding, event, and travel planning services to a discerning clientele. The travel planning services coupled well with events and weddings because our clients never had to worry about having to work with an event/wedding planner and a travel agency separately, we were able to offer both services to them. After growing a clientele and managing the agency for over seven years, I decided to leave the corporate sector to operate and manage Notiq Agency full-time. At that time, I was able to truly focus on the growth of the Agency and expand the scope of our offerings to include high end curated international small group travel services and collaborating with businesses and organizations to offer travel experiences that are specific to their clientele, members and/or employees. Notiq Agency is the platform through which I can leverage over a decade of corporate experience, event management, and years of global travel experiences, to provide services that amplify my personal talents and expertise; through Notiq Agency I have found my passion.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall, the journey has been amazing, it has been such a great experience and growth opportunity. As an entrepreneur, you have to acquire skills in multiple areas to ensure the success of your business. My professional experience equipped me with some of the basics such as business acumen, professionalism, and how to develop and manage processes and projects. However, I’ve had to learn a number of other skills such as advertising and social media marketing (which I’m still learning daily). For young women starting off on their journey, I would advise that they prepare. Preparation is key and it doesn’t happen overnight. Networking, building relationships, gaining industry training and knowledge, and even making some mistakes along the way are all apart of being prepared. You learn something new everyday so always be open and willing to learn new things and grow.

In the day and age of Google, anyone can search a trip or use a third-party website to book travel, but what those platforms lack is an expert; a travel professional with first-hand destination experience and a global supplier network that can assist you every step of the way. We ensure that our clients do not have to lift a finger! We assist our clients in determining the best destination and accommodations for the needs of their group and we manage every aspect of the travel to include customized itineraries, invitations, and payments. We also answer the multitude of questions that they would normally receive directly from family and friends; we’re only a phone call away. We want Notiq Agency to be known for providing amazing travel experiences and providing premier opportunities for our clients that they may not have otherwise tapped into. As a result, we are now offering our Wanderlust by Notiq™️ small group travel experiences which are international travel experiences that will offer curated experiences, one-of-a-kind adventures, and a chance to see the world with like-minded travelers. We are headed to Dubai in April 2020 and Kenya in September 2020 with plans to visit at least 1-2 new continents every year. We are also working on a few more signature travel experiences that we plan to launch later this year and in 2020.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
Honestly, books are great, but I’ve been blessed to have amazing mentors (and mentees), friends, and family that have helped me grow not only professionally, but personally as well. I’m beyond thankful for their continued support along the way, as I’m not sure where I’d be without them.
