Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Monet.
Taylor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Sauvage Life started the day I was born. Everything that I have gone through, whether it be good or bad got me to where I am today. When I look back on life itself, it prepared me for “Sauvage Life”. I graduated from The Fort Valley State University May 2018 with a degree in communications and I hit the ground running. I had to start my own business because I knew I was not going back to school, and I did not want to work for anyone else. I wanted to show my creativity and use my graphic design background to market my business like they taught us in the communications program. All of summer 2018, I brainstormed and researched what I wanted to sell and how I was going to do it. I came up with lashes, but I did not want to be marginalized as just a girl who sold lashes because I am more than that. Being me and doing the things I do is a lifestyle, so I came up with Sauvage Life. I know it’s Savage with a U, but I wanted to be a little bourgeoisie. Sauvage means wild and free, and when it comes to my brand, I want people to think limitless. I came up with my logo in September 2018 and didn’t launch until 4/20/2019. In those eight months, I did research, product testing, and a lot of marketing. Those eight months helped my baby develop to what is is now, and I cannot wait to get to the 1-year mark!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride at all. I struggle every day with my brand. Sometimes, it’s the creative process, like what’s next. Money is definitely an issue, so having to work to get to money for my brand kind of took away from me creating, but I am making the necessary changes to get a better balance on life to be able to elevate my brand. I’m just trusting the process because I know the end result will be worth it.
Sauvage Life – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sauvage Life is my brand, it is a Lifestyle Brand. I personally specialize in graphics, brand development, and marketing. All of the graphics on my website and social media pages were created by me. The products I produce so far are mink eyelashes, and t-shirts, but I have some heat dropping this upcoming fall, so everybody needs to be on the lookout. I am also a certified lash technician. My whole life, I have been “Different”. The older I get, the more I embrace it. My branding alone sets me apart from everybody else! My packaging, my brand colors, and the vibe you get from Sauvage Life will make you choose me over everybody else over and over again. Who else you know selling lashes called Hoodrat? LOL, NOBODY! But I bet you want to know more if you hear it. Men and women can get with the movement.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The actual launch date, 4/20/2018 was the proudest moment of my career. I worked so hard on my brand for months and the fact that I actually did it amazes me, I never thought the day would come.
