Meet Lashanta Fraser of Shantea Thyme in Buford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lashanta Fraser.

Lashanta, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My parents are from the Island of Grenada in the West Indies and introduced my siblings and I to tea at an early age. We drank tea every morning to start our day. It was a routine which is now part of my own family. I’ve always known that I wanted to start my own business but always felt stuck. I’ve read several books and listened to many speakers over the years about finding your purpose. One day in 2014, it dawned on me, while having a cup of tea. The thoughts we’re you drink tea 2-3 times a day; it’s my favorite pass time. Why not start a line of tea and share your passion for tea? In 2017, Shantea Thyme was born with the desire to share a great brand of tea that is All Natural All the Thyme!  Tea is the most consumed beverage after water.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a smooth road for the most part because it’s not a new market. I was not reinventing the wheel but adding to it. The challenges that I did come across was finding the right companies for packing and design. I wanted to work closely with a company that would bring my ideas, to life.

We specialize in selling high-quality and all-natural teas from different parts of the world. The beverages include familiar blends and packaged in our organza sachet with room for the tea to expand when steeped. We are known for our specialty loose teas blends. I’m most proud of the support and great feedback from our customers. We thrive on supplying the freshest tea possible with all the health benefits that are important to health-conscious people.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta has some great Tea companies that I have personally visited before starting my company. It was part of the inspiration to see similar companies like myself having the same passion and drive. Atlanta is by far, one of the best places to start a business; there is a lot of opportunities here. I would say to anyone interested in starting a business in Atlanta start attending networking events you won’t regret it.
