Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Velvet Hall.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Georgia when I was 16. It was here that I finished high school at Baldwin High School and Junior College at Georgia Military College. I also have a bachelor’s degree from Devry University.
Years after high school and junior college, I began a semi-professional wrestling career solely on the weekends when I wasn’t working my regular job. I was trained for the ring by Bill Demott – who wrestled in WCW under the name Hugh Morris. I did that for nearly 15 years and met quite a few people that are in WWE today such as Cedric Alexander, Xavier Woods, and referee Antrone Brewer. I captured various championships along the way.
After leaving wrestling behind, I decided to pursue acting. Professional wrestling is entertainment and prepared me for acting improvisation. I have had the pleasure of working with wonderful companies such as The Peoples Network, Expected End Entertainment, 480 films, Michael Angelo Productions, Drew 2 Media, and a host of others. I’m always working to perfect my craft by reading and attending workshops and continue to pursue acting opportunities.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The only struggle has been with time. I still hold a full-time job. I also want to go back to school as well. I also hate not having enough time for my family sometimes. The day after I finished filming Fixation 2, my aunt – who was like a mother to me – passed away and it gutted me. It hurts but I know she would want me to live my life and continue to pursue my dreams. I keep her in my heart forever and a day.
Please tell us about Velvet Hall – what should we know?
I am an actor who was seeking to become as versatile as possible. I want to learn to play all types of characters and Infuse them with a bit of my own personal energy. I am always honored to be given the task of bringing someone else’s vision to life from character portrayal
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I try to learn from every experience. I definitely want to give credit to Troy Bland. I can truly say my acting career turned around when I met him. Chuck Brown, Bobby Peoples, and Renee Peoples have always given me great advice.
