Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Benoit.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I discovered my passion for baking when I was thirteen from watching Cake Boss on TLC and other baking shows on Food Network. I loved how Buddy, on cake boss, was so creative with his baking and good at it! This process has been very long and hard but I’m sticking to it ! I was always on and off with actually baking for others due to being in school but since I’ve been out of college as of last year, I’ve only been focused on my business since. As of the beginning of this year, I’ve dedicated my time to learning and achieving new baking ventures and attending events through my social media platform.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My struggles were staying focus on a full-time job as well as focusing on school and still trying to market my business. Once I was able to take college out of the factor, I knew that with or without a degree, I would still want to own Sweets By MJB.
Please tell us about Sweets By MJB L.L.C.
I’m the owner of Sweets By MJB bakery! I am at home baker and future master baker of my bakery. I specialize in cupcakes and frosting made using real fruit. No artificial fruit will be used in my ingredients. I am most proud of my concept and how I am sticking to being a niche in my market. The concept of fresh fruit becoming frosting will keep me set apart from my competition. I will be providing a fresh-tasting sweet treat that has been going great with my current clients.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could start over I would have not went to a university for studies. I don’t believe it help me excel any further in my business than what I have been able to achieve for myself; Through teaching myself and experience. If I could do things differently, I would one; offer more of a variety of products but that is something I am working on adding over time. Secondly, just taking classes at culinary vs university.
