Meet Kia Pooler of Kaiography in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Pooler.

Kia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I dealt with a lot of trauma and insecurities that I didn’t recognize until I got older. I often found myself feeling like I didn’t have a voice, but I always longed to be seen and heard. The Arts became my safe haven, an escape, a space for me to create and communicate freely. My first loves were film/theatre. I found my love for theatre when I went to my first Broadway show at 10. There was something so mesmerizing and captivating about the experience and I wanted to be a part of it in some way. I found my love for photography and film when I picked up my first camera around the same age. I loved watching movies and always wondered how breathtaking shots came to be. I started to become so fascinated with what I could do behind the camera. It was very therapeutic for me because I was able to bring words, thoughts, and images to life.

I have been blessed enough to turn my passion into purpose. Having worked on a variety of exciting projects, I’ve had the opportunity to capture beautiful moments, meet people from all walks of life, and learn new skills and I’m always looking for the next challenge and the next opportunity to continue to grow and expand on this creative journey.

Since then, I’m continuing to pursue my passion in the arts as a storyteller. I still enjoy creating visually stunning story-driven films and photographs and I continue to immerse myself in the theatre. I will continue to use my artistry to impact the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
An obstacle and challenge that I have often faced in the past and I’m still overcoming is allowing fear and the opinions of others to determine my path or decisions. I’ve often had people project their own fears onto my life to deter me from my divine opportunities. Being a creative, you often hear things like it isn’t stable, reliable or a secure career path. It takes a lot of strength and courage to combat doubt and fear. It has taken me years to finally realize that my journey is for me to take and not anyone else’s. With any decision that I make, I have to live with that decision, which is why I have to do what makes me happy in the end. I had to realize that fear only has power if you allow it to. We must become comfortable with being uncomfortable because that is where true growth happens and you will never know what could be if you don’t take advantage of the window of opportunities that present themselves.
