Meet Ashia Carpenter of Divine Dance Studio in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashia Carpenter.

Ashia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been dancing and doing gymnastics since I was three years old. When I was ten, I was doing both competitively and my parents asked me to choose a focus. I chose dance and then continued to train competitively, attended a performing arts high school while training 20 hours/week outside of school. I attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where I earned my bachelors in Child and Family Studies and Entrepreneurship while dancing on their dance team. After graduation, I continued school and earned my MBA. One month after graduation, I began teaching dance and gymnastics at daycares and incorporated my business name. A couple of months later, I saved up to open my building in Chattanooga, TN. I operated my dance studio there for four years before moving to Atlanta in 2019 and opening my building here.

Has it been a smooth road?
Some of the struggles have been raising capital to start the building and actually budgeting to operate efficiently. I learned a lot in school but still don’t feel like I was prepared to learn marketing, accounting, etc. in the real world.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Divine Dance Studio – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
