Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Morrissette.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Stacy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a California native who moved to Georgia in pursuit of a career in Fashion Design and Photography.
In 2001, Red Bull and NoDoze gave me the wings I needed to drive two days across country, all to land safely, determined, eager, and “Hungry” to start my NEW COLLEGE LIFE in Atlanta Georgia .
Although I received my degree in Fashion Design, the photography side had always been my “Passion Field.”
I pursued jobs in tandem with that dream, taught myself how to work a camera and thanks to my friends whom I’ve met along the way, taught myself the new era artistry of digital flash photography.
Has it been a smooth road?
Growing up, my life has been similar to Will Smith’s portrayal of Chris Gardner’s story in “Pursuit of Happyness,” with an array of highs and lows, but I’m learning to void the negative and develop with those who are positively sewing into their grown up life. If not for those experiences, I wouldn’t have learned how important it is to remain humble and to pay it forward. I lend my gifts to varied fashion and social events, along with reposting opportunities others may have in Atlanta because we all need that helping hand to keep rising to our destiny. Every day, thanks to GODS gifts I’m growing wiser and stronger into what I am destined to be, a PHOTOGRAPHER.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Morrissette Design Houz story. Tell us more about the business.
My first love is Fashion Photography but I’m just as passionate about shooting weddings and newborn images as well.
It’s impossible for me to choose which one of my works I’m most proud of because I see my growth every time I shoot, but I also see my flaws with growth potential.
As a brand, I specialize in pulling the beauty out of the everyday person or aspiring model. I love taking the time to get to know the person I’m photographing by having a small open dialog about themselves, similar to this interview. Within that small connection, I get a chance to observe a persons confidence level and take in their mannerisms like head tilts or hand gestures they may have when speaking. Taking notice of a persons allows me to recall back a story they might have said that I can now use in order to get a certain face smile or frown they might have had when speaking of a boyfriend or favorite food spot. That small chat, helps me to evoke that inner essence that then draws the person viewing the image, to connect instantly when seen; this is what I feel sets me apart from the majority and brings me eminence joy.
Over the years, I’ve been called upon by moms who have seen my work or have been at a gig I did and received humbling comments on how grateful they were to have chosen me because I took the time with the person in front of the camera. I think they can feel I’m not just doing this for monetary gain, I’m doing this to help you show the world who you really are through my lens.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I feel there are a few opportunities out here that women have the position to be great in. Whether it’s working for yourself or someone else’s brand, you have to align yourself with what’s given or make your own; the opportunity is yours for the taking.
