Meet Edward Muldrow and Jeremy Tyler of Champ Fit in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Muldrow and Jeremy Tyler.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Edward and Jeremy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Together, my partner Jeremy Tyler and I own Champ Fit. As for my side of the story, from an early age, I had a huge passion for working out. When the holidays would come around in middle school, my friends would all get clothes and games, but I’d count the days until I could get the weight bench that I have seen in my dad’s muscle-tech magazine. As each birthday would pass, I’d acquire one more weight set, or one more heavy bag, until it came to the point where I had nearly a full home gym in middle school at age 13. Not only did I have a full gym, but my creative energies were in full effect as well. My dad who was still in the military at the time would have me strap on his bulletproof vests and full military gear just to do frog leaps in my front yard until it was too late for me to be up anymore. Needless to say, by the time high school came around and I started training with my peers, I had a huge leg up on my competition. Long story short, I started playing football and that eventually led to 3 college degrees and a short professional career. However, it was in high school where I first came across Jeremy Tyler.

At that time, he was just an opponent at one of the best football schools in Atlanta, MLK, but who knew we’d be business partners one day and later meet up at West Virginia. A little backstory on Jeremy Tyler (J.T.), he came from playing pop ball in the slums of zone 6 Atlanta. J.T. was and is to this day one of the coldest basketball players there is. However, he was a football star as well and due to his height and he started leaning towards football as a main sport about 20 scholarship offers into his junior season. J.T. earned around 35 offers to play D1 Football by the end of his high school career and eventually signed with West Virginia University in 2013. I ended up signing to South Carolina University out of high school in 2011 but would later transfer to West Virginia University where I met J.T., and the rest is history. Five or six odd years later, we’ve decided to stop working for the NFL and decided to work for ourselves.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say it has been a very smooth road. We’ve faced many trials but nothing that could stop us in our tracks. We would say our secret is that we “burned the boats” a long time ago. So, it’s understood that forward is the only option. That cuts out a lot of BS by itself.

Please tell us about Champ Fit.
Our mission statement is to help each client reach their highest potential; mind-body, and spirit. In a lot of ways, that speaks for itself concerning what we do. We cover everything from yoga and breath works, to jujitsu and kickboxing with many other arts in between. We even have a few clients that practice parkour if you’re into that. However, most people go for the good old fashioned strength and conditioning circuit. What sets us apart is our commitment to each individual client. What they want to achieve, we figure out, and we get them there. That’s what we are most proud of as well. Seeing people become what once was a distant dream to them while enjoying the process along the way.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We would have gone online with our training sessions sooner. Training in person with each client just can’t compare to reaching hundreds if not thousands of individuals online.
