Meet Kristin Fuller of Captured By Kristin Photography in Flowery Branch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Fuller.

Kristin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always loved photography since I was a child. You would often find me setting up photoshoots with my pet rabbit and in high school I created my own pin hole camera and learned to develop film in the dark room. After having my own children, I fell back in love with photography and delved into the world of digital photography and photoshop. I worked as child and family therapist for many years and found I loved dressing children up and letting them live out their princess dreams. I believe childhood should be magical and I strive to keep that magic alive for as long as possible. Watching a little girl light up as she transforms into her favorite fairytale character and gets a royal photoshoot is what makes my work so enjoyable. Then watching her amazement as I have taken her photos and added an artistic magic touch where she sees herself as part of a magical fairytale story is the Happily Ever After I desire for each child and client I work with.

Life isn’t always a fairytale as I learned in my many years as a clinical therapist, but I can give a child a fairytale experience for at least one day and magical images to remind her that she is strong and beautiful- just like her favorite princess!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It certainly has not been a smooth road. With a large saturation of photographers in the area it has been a struggle to differentiate myself and create a profitable business that allows me to produce the kind of work I do. My work does now stand out and I offer an experience most other photographers do not. I have many beautiful couture princess gowns in my studio to offer a full-service photography experience for my clients and I have spent countless hours studying and practicing my craft, attending workshops and mentoring programs to obtain the level I am now at. I sometimes work 7 days a week and just about every weekend. My work goes way beyond the 1-2 hours I am with my client- this is just a small portion of the time I spend on each session. Many people don’t realize all the behind the scenes work that goes into a photoshoot of this type. The road hasn’t been smooth but it certainly has been worth it. I love what I do and I love the clients I work with. I honestly couldn’t image any better job than the one I have.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Captured By Kristin Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an award winning and nationally published children’s photographer. I recently placed second in a national print competition with the National Association of Professional Child Photographers and have been published multiple times in children’s fashion magazines. My specialty is capturing the magic of childhood and bringing fairytales to life. Clients come to me from all over, including out of state to work with me and give their child a magical experience. Most weekends you will find me dressing up a little girl in her favorite couture princess gown and watching her come to life as her favorite princess. I merge the art of photography with fine art to create beautiful composites that bring these fairytales to life. Whether it is the Beast from Beauty and the Beast or a Horse and Carriage for Cinderella, I create magical portraits for my clients.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t say luck, just a lot of hard work and determination has gotten me to where I am at now.
